Mac OS X 10.5 Pixel Clock Bypass
Mac OS X 10.5 Pixel Clock Bypass
Is there a way to bypass the pixel clock limit is OS X 10.5? My PowerMac G5 Quad needs 240Hz (overclock PCB), but custom resolutions past 125Hz don't show up is System Preferences after installing them with SwitchResX (Basically CRU for OS X).

This is the 165MHz limit in the drivers of some connections -- some people have used an "active" DisplayPort adaptor to bypass the limit.rabidz7 wrote:Is there a way to bypass the pixel clock limit is OS X 10.5? Re: Mac OS X 10.5 Pixel Clock Bypass
My GPUs don''t have DisplayPort... They are SLI 6600 GTs, with two DVI ports, each. I can't upgrade because I use a PowerMac with Open Firmware. A normal off-the-shelf GPU will not output anything because it has no open firmware initialization code. In short, unless I want to spend thousands to get a firmware written, I am stuck with ancient GPUs. Is there any way to bypass the 165MHz pixel clock limit for DVI?Chief Blur Buster wrote:This is the 165MHz limit in the drivers of some connections -- some people have used an "active" DisplayPort adaptor to bypass the limit.rabidz7 wrote:Is there a way to bypass the pixel clock limit is OS X 10.5?
