Will 2015 TVs with HDMI 2.0 accept 120hz?

60hz sucks. I have to limit my games to 50fps to avoid screen tearing, and vsync sucks because it adds half a second of input lag. There's no way I'm gonna use a 27" monitor and play from the couch; all these PC desk-people don't make sense. Desks aren't comfortable; that sucks. I'm trying to game at 100fps here and not have back pain.

I'm thinking about getting a Sony 2015 TV when they come out (maybe a couple months?) since they usually have the lowest input lag at like 18ms. With anything else, there's no point in higher than 60hz since the input lag would be too high to benefit from 120hz in terms of mouse responsiveness.

With HDMI 2.0, will they support 120hz input?

I think we'll just have to wait and see if they do, I'm guessing most won't.

As for desks causing you back pain you just need to use better desks and chairs or adjust them appropriately.

I used to get back pain until I switched to an Aeron chair, adjusted it correctly, and adjusted my desk correctly for proper ergonomics.

It sounds like you've never used a desk and chair that is properly setup for your body.

If I'm not watching a movie or TV with other people I prefer watching them at my desk because everything is tweaked to my body and perfectly setup for ideal ergonomics. It is more comfortable than sitting on a couch.

Some HDMI 1.4 panels support 120hz.

Thanks for the recommendation, I've been looking for a good TV of that size that accepts 120hz. How is the glare? Many reviews I've read complained of that. The TV would be in a fairly dim area of the room, but people are saying it's pretty bad. I saw a mention of a slight red push; is it noticeable? Right now it's going for $1300 used, $1400 refurbished, and $2000 new. I'm guessing the refurbished ones probably have the backlight bleeding issue you described, which is why they were returned and "restored", so I'm considering buying the used one. Or maybe I'll wait until the 2015 TVs come out and see if any of them support 120hz.

I just did some more searching, and I found that the TV was selling on Walmart.com for $1300 new (now out of stock), and it sells at Target.com for $1750 new. The other options are eBay and Amazon, for used and refurbished respectively. Kind of a rip-off considering the original Walmart price. It's a shame that no 2014 TVs support 120hz. Maybe I'll wait 4 months and see if any 2015 TVs support it.

That doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
At 60Hz you need to be running at 60/30/20 FPS for smooth tear-free gameplay. 50 FPS doesn't sync up to 60Hz.
Something is very wrong if V-Sync is adding 500ms of latency. Typically V-Sync at 60Hz will be ≤50ms if you limit the flip queue size to 1. (maximum pre-rendered frames)

Hopefully this year's displays from Sony will support full-speed HDMI 2.0 at all.
Until now they've only supported 4K60 with a YCC 4:2:0 input.
