Games not recognizing custom overclocked resolutions
Games not recognizing custom overclocked resolutions
I'm curious if anyone else has run into this. I have a friend who bought one of those cheap Korean IPS monitors, and managed to overclock it to 96Hz at the native 1440p. Unfortunately since doing that, many games do not seem to be able to use the custom resolution and will only run at 60 Hz. Even games that let you manually select the refresh rate do not list 96Hz as an option. Also strangely, games using the Source engine will only run at 96Hz when MSAA is disabled, a problem I have never experienced with my G-Sync display. Is there any way around this or do only common refresh rates work?

Are you using CRU for that? It allows you to change the order of the modes and make the high refresh rate one have a higher priority.

Yes, finding other people with that problem is how he figured out what was causing it.lexlazootin wrote:u w0t m8?games using the Source engine will only run at 96Hz when MSAA is disabled

Will that work if the game isn't even showing the custom resolution as an option? For instance the recent release of Dragon's Dogma shows the only refresh rate options as 59Hz and 60Hz.RealNC wrote:Are you using CRU for that? For me it works. Don't know about this game in particular, but others work.nimbulan wrote:Will that work if the game isn't even showing the custom resolution as an option? I'll certainly have him give that a shot.
