How dangerous overclock 60Hz monitor to 75Hz?

Talk about overclocking displays at a higher refresh rate. This includes homebrew, 165Hz, QNIX, Catleap, Overlord Tempest, SEIKI displays, certain HDTVs, and other overclockable displays.

How dangerous overclock 60Hz monitor to 75Hz?

Post by mist » 29 Oct 2019, 17:27

Can overclock from 60 to 75Hz damage my monitor. When i try to set 75Hz image is bit shake and stretchy. And i see overlay message "not optimum mode" I quickly return default 60Hz. Now image is good. But now i am doubt, could 75Hz harm my monitor if i set it for short time?

It's rare to do damage to an LCD display that way. Usually you need to find the best timings (like "native" or "reduced" in CRU) and the highest Hz the monitor will accept.
