VG259QM 300hz overclock

Talk about overclocking displays at a higher refresh rate. This includes homebrew, 165Hz, QNIX, Catleap, Overlord Tempest, SEIKI displays, certain HDTVs, and other overclockable displays.

VG259QM 300hz overclock

Post by uoser » 01 Jul 2020, 17:28

I managed to overclock my monitor to 300hz using CRU and a very low resolution, 1024x640. In the monitor OSD settings I noticed the overclock "on" and "off" option. At 300hz it doesn't seem to change anything whether I turn the overclock on or off, it always reads at 300hz. Although when I turn the monitor overclock osd setting to "on" the picture looks brighter. I'm not sure if im just seeing things. Are there any advantages or disadvantages to setting the overclock feature to "on or "off" in the monitor OSD settings?

On an unrelated topic, does the VividPixel setting have any effect on input lag?

I've always played with max refresh rate and uncapped fps for lowest input lag. I don't bother with any of the sync technologies. I've been trying to find my preferred settings with this new monitor but am having trouble searching for it online because it's so new.

Neat!

To test the success of your overclocking, do you mind photographing www.testufo.com/frameskipping ?

Im clueless when it comes to cameras. Can i just point and click my iphone camera? No idea how to do 1/10th exposure or decrease camera iso.

I took a picture with my monitor brightness at 0.

That’s good enough —

And yes, the 300Hz overclock looks good. For future photo sharing, I should overlay the refresh rate on top of full screen mode, in the next modification of TestUFO

What did you settle with? ELMB seems slower to me. I do like VividPixel and do not feel any delay. What was max OC @ 1080p and what firmware? I am on 105.

I was also on 105. Tried the "secret overdrive" 120 but didn't like it too much. max oc at 1080p was just the default 280. also didn't like elmb at all. my preferred settings were 1280x768 @ 286hz with 80 overdrive, no elmb, no gysnc, vivid pixel at 50, shadow boost 2, max brightness and contrast. mainly used to play overwatch. 1024x640 @ 300hz was for apex legends before they stopped supporting stretched resolutions. have since moved onto the alienware 360hz. still trying to figure out how to work display scaling on it, so if you're looking to upgrade, I would wait until its confirmed display scaling works on whichever 360hz you're looking at.

Hi, seems we have similar interests. Top Overwatch player myself. Also have the VG259QM. I will be trying your overclocking methods.

I also have the Alienware 360hz on order. Hasn't actually shipped yet.. Dell support is saying January. Do you still think I should cancel and wait? I chose the Alienware over the Asus ROG 360hz based on the better overall response time according to rtings reviews. That being said, I want the fastest monitor possible with the lowest input lag (at 25 inches :) ).

Any more information or advice would be appreciated! Thanks

On VG279QM this oc won't work the same. I got frame skipping with 1024x640@299Hz, 300Hz was out of range.
