XL2411Z overclocking

Talk about overclocking displays at a higher refresh rate. This includes homebrew, 165Hz, QNIX, Catleap, Overlord Tempest, SEIKI displays, certain HDTVs, and other overclockable displays.

XL2411Z overclocking

Post by utopia742 » 29 Jan 2021, 18:17

Hello, guys.
I am a newbie on this topic, because in my entire life I've overclocked my CPU and tried to do it with my GPU. Never have I ever tried to overclock my monitor. I've actually did this. Used OorBuster and went from 144Hz to 180Hz. I have a few questions only and they are pretty simple:
1. Is it safe for my 5 year monitor to be overclocked at all times?
2. I am playing CS:GO competitively. Is it working exactly on 180Hz, when I am overclocking it? Of course with all the launch options included (-freq 180 and -refresh 180) Because I don't exacly know how to check this, cuz my monitor showing up with 144Hz as current resolution.

It's better to reply in the main BenQ overclocking thread:
viewtopic.php?f=8&t=5544&start=400

That way, it sends email notifications (to those who opted in) to the people who are already posting in this thread.

Some quick answers. Normally I let other end users answer these kinds of questions, but due to the delay:

1. Generally, overclocking a display is safe if the picture appears normally. Usually overclocking doesn't stress a monitor as much as overclocking a GPU stresses the GPU.

2. You may need to use some tricks to force 180Hz by either deleting 144Hz in ToastyX CRU or creating a new resolution (e.g. 1920x1079) containing only 180Hz. That forces games to use only the highest-Hz.
