crazy hope it's not frame skipping. how has noone else tried to oc a g7? would be the first thing i would do
curious what hz it can do at native resolution 1080p to 1440p isn't the best.

That must skip frames.
Can anyone confirm this with
frame skipping test?

Posted this thread to r/monitors for further testing of other people to see if it's that easily overclockable.

VA on 480hz?
maybe on those high refresh rates,it doesnt really matter ,what type of panel is used?
should that beat dyac+ 240? or 390 VRB?
if not,its only good 2 know for people whom already bought it..
regarding the price in the first place..
there are surely some benefits ,like single mode games 240 into reaction based games 480..and this type of diversity was a dream 4 a long time, long before even cirtix did his amazing job
but still..1080p not looking so good on 1440p,+ 32inch downscaling is also a negative? or it depends on the way it does?
integer scaling will not work well in this scenario, maybe some sort of monitor firmware thingy ?
honestly..i hope this is the beginning of a trend that will all panel manufacturers and all monitor brands sellers as a finished product, implement this type of a diversity as a STANDARD feature.

Higher refresh rate is always better, as mentioned in
https://blurbusters.com/blur-busters-la ... -and-hold/ by Chief
However, in this specific scenario, It's a compromise between sharpness vs motion clarity.
What I'd love to see if the refresh rate OC makes BFI better in this monitor, since a bigger refresh rate headroom translates to much better clarity in strobing backlight techniques too. But, Chief did mention strobing backlights with a overclocked display result in possible damages to the panel on older firmware (at least in the XL2720Z OC thread), so I'm eagerly waiting for the reply of our master on this topic and for someone to provide us a proper 480Hz frameskipping validation!

EDIT: It's a bad overclocker it seems, starts pixel skipping at beyond 300hz, the author of the 480hz OC was pixel skipping himself on anything above 300hz @ 1080p, so rip the 480hz @ 1080p dream :/
seems like placebo is a wonderful drug

Managed to get up to 420hz before my panel would black screen or I had BSOD issues, here are my results:

My phones slow-motion only goes to 240fps so it's not the greatest but it's something at least.

Hey, I am the Quake streamer that did this.
There seems to be no frame skipping from my personal tests but ill put up a video of it working when I get the time today hopefully.
You are also not limited to 1080p It also works at oddball resolutions (1,296p at around 360hz for example) if you want an increase of sharpness at the cost of some refresh.
You can also do about 720p at 500hz with 2x pixel scaling in the control panel. This looks chunky but very sharp like native 720p and is actually ideal for reaching a framerate target that high.

I heard about this and thought it would probably have a bunch of issues.
Still, if the 240hz panel can O/C to 300hz, that would still be fairly decent.
