RIVA Tunner, Latency Moon, Nvidia software, all shows me a constant 60fps+ without any drops, a flatline frametime timeline, and normal GPU and CPU temps and usage, but still, even on high fps it doesn't even look like fluid 60fps gameplay that i see on youtube or in my other friends PC. It isnt stuttery, it looks not fluid, i think its call "Judder"

I tried on a M27Q ips Gigabyte monitor of 170hz with G-sync ON and OFF, a LG ips 21 inch 60hz monitor, diferent LCD TVs, diferent monitors, and all the results are the same

My PC specs are:

CPU: Intel 12700k, 4800 mhz

Liquid cooler for CPU (doesnt go above 60c in heavy load)

GPU: 5080 RTX Gigabyte Aorus (doesnt go above 65c in heavy load)

RAM: 32 GB - 2x 16 GB DDR5 5200 MHz Kingston Fury Beast

Motherboard: ASUS Prime Z690-A

STORAGE: NVME 2TB 750sn Patriot and 500gb 750sn Patriot

PSU: 850W GEN 5 PCI-E ATX 3.0 GOLD GIGABYTE

i tried:

• -Enable the resizable bar from BIOS and check in the Nvidia Control Panel.
  -GPU running on Gen3, Gen4 and (currently) Gen5 PCIe (confirmed by GPUz)
  -Disabling Vsync and limiting to 60 FPS with RIVA TUNNER
  -Changing Monitor overdrive settings
  -Changing motion blur settings in game
  -Update Bios
  -Update Nvidia software and Windows 11.
  -Reinstalling Windows 11
  -Installing Windows 10
  -Disabling Windows Game Mode
  -testing changing the GPU to a 4070 Ti, a 1070 Ti, a 2080 Super and a Radeon 6700 XT
  -testing changing the RAM and CPU to an Intel 9700k and 16 DDR4
  -Changin Motherboard
  -Changing NVME
  -Changing for diferent PC Screens and TVs
  -Enabling and disabling G-Sync in compatible devices
  -Changing all setings of Nvidia Panel
  -The problems are not particular to one game, every single game from 2000s 2010s and 2020s give me the exact same problem
  -Energy lectures are fine
  -Temperatures are fine
  -Vsync on and off
  -Tested on Screens of 60hz native and screens of 170hz native
  -Tested Variable Sync
  -in BIOS PCI Express Native Power Management → Disable
  -in BIOS PCI Express Clock Gating → Disable
  -in BIOS ASPM (Active State Power Management) → Disable
  -in BIOS Re-Size BAR Support → Enable
  -also, disabling resize bar
  -in BIOS AI Overclock Tuner → XMP I or XMP II
  -in BIOS CPU Base Clock (BCLK) → 100MHz (default)
  -updating BIOS and GPU drivers
  -cleaninstalling GPU drivers
  -Using a UPS Online Synt Wave of 1000va (i only tried it for 3 days, i dont know if it is a problem that takes a lot of time connected to a syntwave connection to get solve)

Everything, including my games, stays the same, but in all configurations, the gameplay doesn’t look nearly as smooth as it does on other PCs or YouTube videos (i know about bitrate but it also look smooth in other PCs)
What could be the problem? I read that it might be judder, but it happens on every screen I try (TV, monitor, etc.).
Is there another “definitive” clean install method for Windows? Or a foolproof version of Windows?


Please, I’m going crazy trying to figure this out.

P.S. I can’t upload gameplay footage due to file size, but if you want to check out my gameplay, I’ve uploaded all the direct captures on my YOUTUBE CHANNEL @Peppy-fr5qh names is Peppy (you will need to compare to other diferents gameplays on youtube to notice the diference and see the level of Judder im talking about)

"I doubt it's related to electrical problems — I tested it, and it has the normal household voltage for my country.

I looked at a few of the videos and they looked fine to me (60hz user here)

I can't really suggest much other than to not run Riva Tuna or any other extra software in the background since this can ironically cause judder/stutter issues.

If the issue isn't present on your friend's PC, what is different on his setup from yours?

Youtube videos are not a real representation of how a game should look, as there could be heavy editing involved to make it look smoother than it objectively should be.

To be able to achieve "no judder", you either cap to 170fps @ 170hz (VRR off) or you rely on VRR and cap 5-10% from refresh rate (161fps or lower)
Ideally, you'd rely on single display.
The biggest bottleneck in your system is the terrible driver versions which Nvidia has been shipping for the 50 series, potentially CPU/RAM/Mobo/PSU sheningans

You haven't mentioned which specific Windows versions you've tried and what games you're trying to make look "smooth"
Use "winver" to figure out the exact versions.

You also haven't mentioned whether you've tried XMP Disabled for a while (on a new Windows install), to rule out the possibility of RAM issues affecting your system.

You were right! It's not judder—it's stuttering. But it's not microstuttering either. It just looks less fluid than it should, though there aren’t any specific freezing moments. It's more of a consistent stutter, kind of like the difference between 30 and 60 FPS… but I'm running at 170 FPS.

I'm using Windows 11 Pro 24H2, but I also tried Windows X-Lite 11 (to rule out background tasks or other software). It still looks the same.

i know about YouTube’s compression and bitrate, but even though my games run at 170 FPS, they don't look as smooth as 60 FPS gameplay on YouTube. Is that normal?
Also, could I send you a 120 FPS recording from a Twitch stream (since it allows 120 FPS recordings), or would that still not fully match how it looks when I’m actually playing?

And yes, I disabled XMP in the new Windows install.
Just out of curiosity—is there any chance my BIOS might be compromised or improperly installed? Could that cause this kind of issue?

It's not an input lag issue, since game responses to input are quite good—I can play high-reflex games without any problem. The issue is more about the framerate not looking smooth.

There's a possibility of your PSU not being sufficient to maintain a 12700k and a 5080...
Perhaps a >1000W PSU (Corsair-based) might be a solution which you could try.
e.g.: Corsair HX1200 or AX1600i

I would stick to W11 23H2 or W10 22H2

I wasn't talking about compression or bitrate. I was talking about users adding things such as motion blur and the likes of it to artificially smoothen out footage. What you experience may not translate onto video at all.
You cannot project 30/60FPS video onto a 170Hz display without juddering occuring.
Stick to 120Hz.

Your BIOS could be set up incorrectly, it depends on many factors... IMC quality can heavily impact your experience.

I don't think it's the PSU, since I also used a 2080 Ti and experienced the same issue.

I tried previous Windows updates, custom gaming-optimized Windows OS versions, and Linux, but nothing changed.

I also tested with a 60Hz monitor and various LCD TVs — same effect. However, enabling "ghosting" significantly improved the perception of frame rate.

Is there a way to check if the BIOS might be the issue?
