Been going back and forth lately between G-Sync and ULMB 2 trying to decide what I like more, the extra clarity during motion or the consistent smoothness with G-Sync. I get around 200-220fps a lot in Apex when not capped at 300fps in 1440p.
Have you decided? And how would you compare both in APEX Legends? I'm afraid to make the jump on ULMP2 and destroy my eyes.
I put G-Sync on since then and never looked back. With the 300fps cap in Apex and a lot of drops with my 3080 on 1440p the consistent smoothness from G-Sync is something I really enjoy. I can notice a slight increase in motion clarity especially in TDM or something where I hold 300fps more but don't think it's worth it in BR with more FPS drops.

In something like OW2 with high FPS I'd probably go back again and compare both.

I want to add to this post that I have gotten ULMB 2 to work on an AMD Radeon GPU

How to Open CRU click edit at the top then uncheck "Include if slot available" at the bottom
Hi bud. Were you also able to create a large vertical total at a lower refresh rate for less strobe crosstalk? I have an rx 7900 xt. Should I then get this over the xl2566k since ulmb2 2 on AMD cards is possible? Can you also show test images?

I personally don't use ULMB 2, don't like the increased latency or headaches

Maybe someone can help, i have the 540hz Asus Monitor with ULMB2, you can set it to 360hz or 540hz in NVCP. Now my minimum FPS can go down to 300 and i get 490fps on average in my main game. For best ULMB2 picture should i set Hz in NVCP to 360hz as i dont always reach 540fps or should i keep it at 540hz.

I returned the Asus PG27AQN IPS monitor cause the screen gets to dark imo with ULMB2 on: 270 nits.

I am thinking about buying the 271QRX OLED monitor but I have no idea how to interpret the 250 nits the 271QRX delivers in SDR cause it's a OLED monitor.

Is there anyone here that tried both monitors: the PG27AQN with ULMB2 on and the 271QRX in SDR and can tell me which monitor gets brighter?

270 nits "too dark?"

You'd hate how I play then; I calibrate my displays to 100 nits and mostly only use SDR, and whenever I use strobing, I calibrate to 100 nits there as well (around 30 PW for ULMB2 on the PG27AQN)

Then again, I've always been very light sensitive (always have to squint, even in moderate sunlight).

I can only imagine you hated the CRT/Plasma-era, where max full-field brightness was typically only up to 100 nits, and often 80 nits or below

The difference in brightness on the aqn with ulmb2 on vs off was to big for me. The aqn looked great imo with 100 brightness. Ulmb2 took 40% of the brightness it was just to much. I could not just turn ulmb2 off cause ulmb2 really worked.

The weird thing is that the 250 nits of my oled 271qrx makes the screen brighter then the 320 nits my pg248qp tn ulmb2 screen produce. Tft tweeted me that luminance is luminance no matter what monitortech is used. This is def. Not the case. I can highly reccomend the 271qrx it's quite insane.

An increased contrast ratio can cause a perception of higher average luminance, even if the display is actually dimmer; raw nits aren't the be all and end all where perceptual brightness is concerned.

Anyway, my point was the nit output expectation of the typical consumer has become absurdly high and is only possible due to the advent of modern display backlight technology, with ~300 nits seeming to be the bare minimum acceptable average (with or without strobing/BFI), which is already a 3x times increase over the ~100 nits that we simply had to settle with in the CRT-era.
