Upgrading Firmware to v2 this way?

Post by sombi71 » 27 Sep 2014, 16:54

Hi, I recently got my XL2411z monitor just yesterday and I realized it didn't have v2 installed. My question is if I can use an LPT to usb adapter that connects to a vga to usb adapter and use it to flash this screen to v2?

That connection isn't suitable for upgrading firmware. Just use Linux firmware method. You need only VGA cable for firmware with that method.

Can I use a virtual machine to do it?
It's fairly advanced and no one has posted a guide on what to do (I'm a newb when it comes to Linux)

Because if it doesn't work anyhow instead of going through all the trouble of buying a one-time-use £40 device or a method that requires lots of knowledge I'll just send back the BenQ and just buy VG248QE and have LightBoost instead,

Ahh, I see now. I tried doing it through a virtual machine and I was getting frustrated. Now that I ''discovered'' a vga-input in my old laptop I tried installing the V2 FW through Linux. Everything went smooth :p Thanks.
