BenQ XL2420G Release Info

Post by sesq » 11 Oct 2014, 18:44

This has just been listed and has a preorder and release date shown on their site. http://shop.benq.us/monitors/gaming/xl2420g.html
I am very confused because I heard that g-sync and ulmb could not be on at the same time, but on this page it says that this monitor's gsync can run with ulmb on. Is this worth $650 is my main question, though. I am very tempted to pre-order, was hoping someone knows more about this monitor compared to http://www.microcenter.com/product/4381 ... ng_Monitor
that is a shocking $200 cheaper, and seems to be releasing at a similar time.

i think it means that in gsync mode, you have the options of either gsync OR ulmb OR neither (fixed refresh, solid backlight)
in classic mode, you have the options of blur reduction OR nothing (fixed refresh, solid backlight)

i would wait for reviews though

Ah I see. I misunderstood what they were saying. Are there no quality reviews out yet for a monitor releasing in like 7 days?

You cant use g-sync and ULMB at same time.

The monitor has both G-sync and BenQ on-board and you can switch between the two.
Classic mode uses Benq specs like MBR *motion blur reduction*
G-sync mode uses Gsync specs that includes ULMB.

Its cool they give you option to choose becasue i prefer MBR over ULMB but not for $649.99 might as well save up couple hundred more and get the PG278Q.

Im so glad i gave up on this while ago when i figured it would retail at most $550.

Which similar monitor to this BenQ would you consider/prefer. I am looking for a 24" G-Sync, but as you said $650 is absurd it seems.

I originally considered buying the BenQ XL2420G, but when I learnt that the price would be $650, and that I could get an AOC G2460PG for €350, I changed my mind and bought the AOC. I really don't see what differences would justify spending almost twice as much.

I like it.

- Contrast: normal for a TN panel. The blacks aren't very deep, but the brightness is pretty good.
- Colors: normal for a TN panel. I don't notice any banding in the following test: http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/gradient.p ... ient-h.png
- Viewing angles: normal for a TN panel. During normal use (games, Web browsing, ...), there's absolutely nothing wrong with the viewing angles. On this particular test: http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/viewing_an ... #angleGrey the bottom of the screen appears a bit brighter than the top, just like any other TN panel. Also, on mine, the top left corner looks a bit darker than the top right corner, but it's only noticeable on this test.
- Pixel response time: Very good, no ghosting. The default overdrive setting is perfect. If you decrease the amount of overdrive, you'll see a little bit of ghosting, and if you increase it, there will be reverse ghosting, so you should use the default setting.

I haven't tested ULMB (nor G-Sync) yet. I need to buy a new graphics card first.

Is there any solid info on the AOC 24" release date in the U.S.? The only vendor I can find info from is the Microcenter link from the original post. Also looking to see if any other vendors are selling it as well.

The BenQ now has a post on newegg for $599. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6824014412
It is very tempting as it is coming out on the 25th so soon! What is the reason for it costing $600 compared to its competitors way lower price?
