Best settings for ASUS TUF Gaming VG249QM1A

Post by becker97 » 02 Sep 2024, 16:05

Hi guys,

Just got this monitor and I'm really enjoying it so far. I know visual settings like brightness, contrast, etc are more personal preference, but is there a good ICC profile for this? Searched on RTINGS but only found for the VG249Q1A, which should maybe work for mine too?

Also, what is the best Variable OD for it? I'm not entirely sure how it work, but it goes from Level 0 to Level 5, and it comes with Level 3 as default According to RTINGS, the best one is Level 4, but again, this was tested on the VG249Q1A model, which only goes up to 165hz, if I'm not mistaken, whereas mine is running on 270hz. I have Free Sync enabled, if that makes any difference.

Thanks!

Hi there, congratulations, you got yourself the best non-Oled gaming monitor on the market. It uses the exact same panel as the glorious ViewSonic XG2431 approved Blur Busters monitor, but with 270hz refresh rate.

The best variable OD is 4, 5 is unusable. Do not use VG249Q1A settings because the colours on both are completly different. I have both of them, I use the 165hz one for console gaming and the 270hz one for PC.

Be aware that Cinema mode is the lowest input lag mode on these models and vivipixel adds input lag across the board. It might or might not affect you. Strobing is also a very good feature and works wonderfully at 120hz. Hard to cap games at 270fps so can´t reccomend it at 270hz, but if you play light games, go for it.

I use FPS mode, Brightness 30, contrast 90. I like to use VividPixel otherwise the picture is too blurry. ShadowControl to 1 or 2.

Unfortunately for me, the panel died 3 months in and now it says the warranty has expired lol.
