Monitor Hz not matching FPS
Hi everyone !
I think that the refresh rate of my monitor is not stable, I believe this, because when you open the monitor menu, the resolution and the Hz appears on screen.
On the desktop it stays at 144hz, but when it comes to playing this is not the case.
I'll show you a situation as an example:
Playing a video game, I have a stable 138 fps, it doesn't drop a single fps, it stays that way. (I also don't move the camera or do anything that could affect the fps, let's say I leave my character without moving, static anyway)
However, when you open the menu, the refresh rate becomes unstable, the Hz does not drop much, but the same number of Hz and fps do not appear in the menu at the moment. The fps would be a stable 138, and the monitor's refresh rate would vary, between numbers like 136 133 141 131 129 136, like that.
The game looks smooth, but sometimes I don't notice it as "real smoothness"
The monitor it uses is an ASUS TUF GAMING VG27A, connected via Displayport, without Overclocking, so it runs at 144hz. I use a 2k resolution.
Gsync is compatible, so I have it activated (Being Gsync, I understand that in terms of fluidity it should go like a shot)
I have Gsync configured as follows:
In Nvidia control panel: Vertical sync ON (in-game disabled), Low latency mode at ULTRA, FPS capped at 141, Gsync enabled in Full Screen. ELBM SYNC disabled.
I have it configured like this according to the Blurbusters forum, which they say is the most optimal configuration.
Any idea why my monitor's cool rate varies? Could it be problematic or could it affect something when playing?
Should i try to get a new monitor without any blurry motion?

That's normal. I don't know of any monitor that has a perfectly accurate OSD VRR Hz indicator. Another thing that i noticed, is when i got frame drops, it is really noticeable on screen. I guess i shouldn't be able to notice the frame drops, since my monitor is Gsync compatible. Not smooth at all.
Besides, according to RTINGS my monitor has a PC GAMING score of 6.5 with the con of "Blurry motion at any refresh rate" which i think is true. (You can notice it by moving the camera fast, the game gets blurry)
Moreover, when i watch a high fps video on youtube with my Mobile (i've a S24 Ultra, 120hz screen) the smooth that i feel isn't the same when i play games on my monitor. Watching videos from my Mobile seem extremely smooth and natural, which with my monito isn't the case.

G-sync can't fix stutters. It only fixes FPS/Hz mismatch. For example, if you cap to 141FPS without g-sync, there will me judder in motion. With g-sync, it will look smooth.
That's what g-sync does. But if the game drops frames and hitches and stutters, g-sync can do nothing about it. G-sync gives you the freedom to cap your FPS at any value you want and still have it look smooth with the monitor set to max refresh rate to avoid all vsync lag. But the game still needs to run smoothly without stutters. Sudden frame time spikes (like sudden momentary jumps from 140FPS to 10FPS) isn't something that can be fixed by g-sync. Even if the frame time spike is just one single frame, you will see the stutter, with g-sync or without.

My frame drops tend to be from 138 fps to 90, 60 - 70 fps max. Anyways, the frame drops that i experience are consecutive, they go like from 138 to 90 fast, but it doesnt jump from 138 to 90, it goes like 138 121 100 90 70 very quickly.
What about the Mobile Smooth thing? is that normal? to watch videos more smoother than on my monitor?
I'm kinda confused tbh, i just want my experience to be as smooth as possible. Should i change my monitor? (Since average review from RTINGS noticing Blurry motion)

You can't use FPS overlays for that (like RTSS and the like) they average frame times over a whole second. You need to start the benchmark mode of RTSS to see 0.1% lows and frame time values saved to a file. For example even if a single frame has a frame time of 100ms, that's a 10FPS frame, and you will see a stutter.

Could i get an answer about the Mobile smooth thing? is that normal?
And since i'm not 100% comfortable with my current monitor, could i get some monitor recomendations?
My monitor requirementes are:
2k, 144hz, IPS if its possible, Gsync and a really smooth visual experience.
700 $ max budget

I don't know about the "mobile" thing, but for that money you can get an OLED.

Is convenient to get an OLED in 2024?
As fas as i know, OLED technology isn't that advanced by now, what are pros of an OLED? i've heard that they excel in showing "true black colour" but apart of that, no idea tbh. Are OLED monitor much smoother than IPS?

OLED is superior in every respect except for VRR, because dark colors will flicker when the game stutters. There's also an issue with ClearType font rendering, where text is not as sharp as on LCD. (ClearType is for RGB and BGR sub-pixel layouts, and existing OLED screens don't use that. However, text looks "good enough" for me. No problem at all unless I start pixel peeping.)
Comparing the OLED I have to the IPS and TN monitors I also have or had, OLED wins overall. Clearer motion (60FPS on OLED looks like 70FPS on LCD, 100FPS on OLED looks like 120FPS on LCD, etc.) Zero ghosting. Zero overshoot. Zero backlight bleed or IPS/VA glow, or TN gamma shift, or anything like that. Amazing contrast that always looks good no matter if you're looking at the middle of the screen, or the top or the sides. It look perfect everywhere. This completely transforms how dark games look and feel. If you only play bright competitive games though (Overwatch, Fortnite, etc) then this obviously doesn't matter. If you also play single player games though, then OLED just looks great simply because of the perfect black. Entering a dark cave in Witcher 3 or being outside during the night in Dragon's Dogma 2 for example is just amazing. Even if you crank up the brightness on the display to make the light sources in the game pop out more, the black regions in the image stay black. It's really good.
But, VRR flicker is a thing if you play games that stutter (like traversal stutter in many Unreal Engine games.)
