Gigabyte M27Q-X rev.2 - problem, opinion?

Post by ninko011 » 09 Sep 2024, 10:59

Hello all,

I joined here to ask you for opinion and advice.
Yesterday I bought new gaming monitor (old ASUS TUF VG27AQ1A died). It is Gigabyte M27Q-X rev.2 - I choosed it after long time of viewing reviews (RTINGS, HW UNBOXED etc.) because price was best for 2,5K 240 hz monitors in my region - Slovakia / 335 eur.
Before it I had ordered LG WOLED GS95QE-B for excellent price 690 eur - current price 820 eur in this store, but the store was not able to deliver it even after 2 months of waiting.

PROBLEM :
After first turning (download drivers/ICC profile, set picture settings, OD ,etc.) While browsing the web, I noticed that the right corner near the frame is a little bit darker - in vertical direction.
I started screen uniformity test and found out that there is something like vertical darker strip - the visibility of this strip depends on colors and brightness. On max level of brightness it is almost no visible, accetable no distracting. But on level 30-40 is visible as on attached photo.
Notice - Left corner/side has not this problem.

OPINION/ADVICE :
I know that with IPS panels it is lottery. Is this problem panel defect? Should I return it? Or it will be big chance that I will have it again on another panel? Problem is that I can see this darker bar during playing - it is bit annoying when you know about it.
On other side the Motion handling is pretty good on 240 HZ with FPS range 180-250 in FPS games which I playing..
Monitor use : 85% playing FPS games (BF V, BF2042) 15% web browsing.

It will be there noticable difference in quality of panel when I will buy something like Dell AW2723DF (515 eur) or ASUS VG27AQML1A (430 eur)???
Or should I buy LG WOLED GS95QE-B for 750 eur in other store? Or another tip on good IPS for this use (must be 27" 2,5K ideally with 240hz)???

Thank you for every opinion and advice. ;)

I would call this a problem. Personally, I would not accept this and would return it. And probably look into an OLED again :P The cheapest 27" 1440p ones here (Greece) start at about 670€. And I can see prices are relatively similar across Europe in general.

I returned it and bought QD-OLED Gigabyte Auorus FO27Q2 (panel from Samsung). Cheapest OLED monitor 1440p in my country - 697 eur
It is incredible experience, just different world !

No blur/ghosting, unreal response, colors, black is real black, clarity, uniformity, etc... I am speechless :!:
I don't believe it makes that much of a difference.. It is similar to when I first time went from 60 hz to 144 hz on Counter strike 10+ years ago.

I should have bought it a long time ago.

I know, right? :P I was using an IPS since 2017 and upgraded to OLED two months ago. I still find it weird that the screen doesn't glow at night when I turn the lights off, lol

Not all OLED are equal

Most WOLED have a nasty matte coating which ruins the picture.
Some QD-OLED have this nasty matte coating aswell

When buying an OLED make sure to buy glossy coating
