First, you get different process IDs every time you restart Windows. This already changes everything as I found that some conbinations provide good input and good performance and others will feel like there is something wrong with the computer.

I know what he's talking about. Threads get assigned to do things...some thread combos are better than others for certain things. A thread being shared by 2 things that don't "work well" together or aren't "sharing fairly" can cause issues. That's done dynamically. It was talked about in the CS2 community quite recently, and having to use process lasso to force affinity for CS2 so you get good performance/expected fps/fix stutters.
I use "process lasso" and disable core 0, 2 (mouse) and 6 (keyboard) for the CS2 process. What correct correspondence are you talking about? I would like to try your tinctures.

I mean for 2x csrss I get the combination of these PIDs: 596, 600, 604, 608, 612. The lower ones always make the mouse feel better and interestingly when I start up my pc normally and I don't crash in games or have any problems, it always stays on the lower values. Can be pseudosience like everything else but I noticed this many times over.

On my win11 23H2 there are both processes, csrss and dwm. For the first I set the priority to real time, for the second (dwm) I set it to low.
Are you saying that 24H2 no longer has a csrss process or what?

process yes, but that process dont interrupt raw input anymore, it make dwm now.
you can check it in process lasso, process hacker and process explorer.
that is good because for w10 both (dwm and csrss) work perfect if both work on one cpu.

Interesting, what cpu core uses for dwm?

I can't go back to using dwm. A lot of modern games need it but there is an added feeling of smoothing even if it is set to idle. So dwm disabled.

144 Hz barely, but 120 Hz will have plenty of odd gaps
With my 1000Hz mouse I don't see any at 120 and 144. At 180 they're just barely there (the distance irregularity is very small, I need to look very close to notice.) At 240 I can clearly see them.
