Adrenalin software says laptop display supports Freesync despite it not being advertised and not working with VRRTest

I bought a Lenovo Yoga 7 2in1 that has a Ryzen 7 8840HS with 780M graphics. It did not advertise Freesync support, but the Adrenalin control panel detects it for some reason. Here's a pic: https://imgur.com/a/kV6ppv4. I've tried both the VRRtest program and the Nvidia Pendulum demo and neither seem to work properly with a fluctuating frame rate.

The weird thing is that if I disable it, then Retroarch does not want to vsync properly, even with G-sync support disabled in its own options. I use the 240p test suite to test how well Vsync is working in different cores. I haven't tested any other applications yet. Does enabling the setting do something for displays that don't actually support the option?
