Asus XG27AQDMG Discussion

High Hz on OLED produce excellent strobeless motion blur reduction with fast GtG pixel response. It is easier to tell apart 60Hz vs 120Hz vs 240Hz on OLED than LCD, and more visible to mainstream. Includes WOLED and QD-OLED displays.

XG27AQDMG Firmware update MCM103:

Bug fixed:
1, Resolved issue with Aspect Control disabled on HDMI sources when Anti-Flicker enable.
2, Fixed the issue where BLF/ Pixel Clean Reminder is still functioning when closed.
3,Fixed the abnormal issue when shadow boost selects dynamic adjustment.
4,Fixed DDCCI function string for DWC functions can operate mormally.

When updating my fw to MCM102 my first USB stick did not work, but tested another USB stick and no problem.

I will update to MCM103 later this week and report back.

Updating to MCM103 using a USB-stick worked without any issues.

Does XG27 model have the same issue with red/orange lighting in 6500K hdr like its predecessor PG27AQDM?
It's not allowed to post links here, but just search rog asus forums for "PG27AQDM HDR looks bad with orange colours".

After MCM107 it's not that glaring like in this thread, but still there. Couldn't find such comparison anywhere, so I'm asking here. Just find a place in any game with torches or fireplace, where it's the only lighting source and all surfaces around the source will be either smeared with brownish mush or slightly purple. I have a PG27 myself, but have an opportunity to buy XG27 and if this issue is not that apparent there or altogether absent, then I'll happily upgrade.
Just in case I have some old jxr screenshots of such lighting in Dragon Age Inquisition that can be easily compared by making a photo of the screen in hdr mode.

I haven't noticed anything, but I don't use HDR much. I used it like 5 times total just to see how it looks in various games and didn't like it because of the excessive brightness.

If you have some specific test in mind (like an HDR video test,) I can do it.

Video is a bit tricky, best if you just load the same area in the same game and with the same angle, but it's very difficult to replicate, since you may not own the games I have, the area is in a very specific spot, etc.
I still have two jxr screenshots from Inquisition with a very orange lighting, I opened them with standard windows image viewer and made a photo of the screen with hdr on and off. I can't attach or link jxrs here or even pm them to you, since I'm new here. How can I send them to you? They're 32mb each. Also I can't attach any photos here. How do I even send anything here if all external links are not allowed and attachments don't work?

You can post links like this: "google dot com"
Yeah, I realized I can do it yesterday (lost technology of link scrambling lol), but it was too late to edit the post for it to make sense.

Here are the jxrs
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1u0sRFL ... sp=sharing
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1g77t9- ... sp=sharing

And here are the photos, you can guess which is which by the name
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... sp=sharing

That's how my PG27 displays these images with 6500K HDR preset.
On the first one stone wall on the left side has purplish hue, wooden chairs on the right are not wooden color, but rather smeared reddish/brownish, stone wall on the right is also affected. It's not that apparent on the photo, I tried several times, it's easier to see with your eyes.
The second one is very noticable. See how the stone floor near the door is purple and smeared, wooden pillar also has this smearing. And the door itself btw. This photo exaggerates what I see, but can serve as a good example. That's the best my Xperia 1 VI can do, I don't have a proper camera.

The thing is I don't know how these exact scenes look on another woled monitors or even on LG 27GR95QE, which has the same panel. Is it inherent to this panel or it's just asus's engineers fault?
Just to reiterate, open the jxrs in standard windows image viewer, make a photo of the screen with hdr off and the on.

Here are the photos. I used the Special K image viewer (SKIV.exe) which has HDR support. Note that the color controls are locked out in HDR mode in this monitor. There is no way to switch from 6500K to anything else. It's all grayed out and inaccessible:

And here with HDR turned off. I raised the brightness to 80% to make light output be as close as possible to HDR:

SKIV produced the same result as image viewer for me, but I could not be sure you have it or even know about it. Jxrs were taken by Special K btw. HDR ingame looks the same as captured image for me, always.

Interesting, I don't see any purplish hue or smearing on your photos. Do you see it yourself? Does it look like my photos to you? That's the main question.
