I don't notice anything weird. But then, I don't notice anything weird in your photos either. I don't have a trained eye for this at all. Viewing the HDR screenshot on my screen and comparing it to your photo is not that useful. To me, it just looks like a photo of the screen. Everything is different simply because it's a photo captured through a camera

Re: Asus XG27AQDMG Discussion
That's strange that you don't see that hdr vs sdr images put side by side (or opened one after another) produce wrong colors on some surfaces. That purple hue is very distinct. But again you say that you don't use hdr that much. I inject hdr in every game i can using special k, so it matters big deal to me.RealNC wrote: ↑05 Oct 2024, 08:31I don't notice anything weird. Also no matter how far or bright the monitor is, all my photos produce the same result, they wasn't just some random shots I took and called it a day. That color is seen in every one of them. And it's universal issue from the day PG27 was on sale, 11 pages of heated discussion on rog forum is as hard evidence as we can get.
But still thank you for help, I really should consider getting XG27 and maybe then I'll make my own comparison.
Re: Asus XG27AQDMG Discussion
yeah i noticed that in hdr red to orange tones are weird and in some scenes are obvious on skin tones, also the monitor doesn't seem to display dark scenes and dark areas of a scene right its all brownish and yellowish there is no color or details i don't know why reviewers don't mention this and the hdr1000 mode is just unusable i would hold if i were you until they release MCM104 firmware and see if its going to solve these issues.Shifroval wrote: ↑04 Oct 2024, 02:36Does XG27 model have the same issue with red/orange lighting in 6500K hdr like its predecessor PG27AQDM?
It's not allowed to post links here, but just search rog asus forums for "PG27AQDM HDR looks bad with orange colours".
After MCM107 it's not that glaring like in this thread, but still there. Couldn't find such comparison anywhere, so I'm asking here. Just find a place in any game with torches or fireplace, where it's the only lighting source and all surfaces around the source will be either smeared with brownish mush or slightly purple. I have a PG27 myself, but have an opportunity to buy XG27 and if this issue is not that apparent there or altogether absent, then I'll happily upgrade.
Just in case I have some old jxr screenshots of such lighting in Dragon Age Inquisition that can be easily compared by making a photo of the screen in hdr mode.

Re: Asus XG27AQDMG Discussion
In the meantime I've studied some videos showcasing red/orange colors in hdr on XG27 and never noticed such glaring mustard-yellowish "film" on surfaces, only bright orange. And on PG27 you can capture it even with a smartphone, not a professional camera the reviewers use.Ok-Nose wrote: ↑07 Oct 2024, 11:34yeah i noticed that in hdr red to orange tones are weird and in some scenes are obvious on skin tones, also the monitor doesn't seem to display dark scenes and dark areas of a scene right its all brownish and yellowish there is no color or details i don't know why reviewers don't mention this and the hdr1000 mode is just unusable i would hold if i were you until they release MCM104 firmware and see if its going to solve these issues.Shifroval wrote: ↑04 Oct 2024, 02:36Does XG27 model have the same issue with red/orange lighting in 6500K hdr like its predecessor PG27AQDM?

So you have XG27 yourself?
Would you mind doing the same test as RealNC with jxr screenshots?

im using the 700nits mode not the 1000nits, and i took it on my iphone 12
Re: Asus XG27AQDMG Discussion
Well, I clearly see the difference even opening the photos in gdrive's small window. It's the same in picture viewers or when stretched to fullscreen. Orange is indeed orange and not purplish mush. It may be too saturated, sure, I'm no color expert, but for my eye it looks uniform. So I guess Asus learned their lesson with PG27 in this case.Ok-Nose wrote: ↑08 Oct 2024, 13:27https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... sp=sharing

Thank you for your help and I have XG27 already on the way for some time, it will arrive in ~2 weeks, hopefully by the end of October.
Re: Asus XG27AQDMG Discussion
The 180Hz mode of this monitor is broken when g-sync is enabled in the NVCP. Updated the first post with info.
Asus support isn't very interested in this apparently. If someone with more pull can contact them, feel free. I'm just a random nobody and I only get the usual copy&pasta "do windows update and turn it off and on again," etc, even though I'm trying to tell them their monitor has a firmware bug in their 180Hz mode.

Re: Asus XG27AQDMG Discussion
Ok, today I finally got my XG, the first thing I tested after some initial tinkering with settings is the 'orange issue'.
Guess what? It's not there. Like at all. Not in games, screenshots (like my two from DAI) or hdr video (tested in Deadpool and Wolverine, there are some good dark and orangish scenes I noted for further comparison).
So I can conclude, that Asus just calibrated hdr differently for XG, and PG is forever cursed with this.
What I want to ask now is how to better mitigate black crush in sdr? Right now I use novideo with rtings icc profile and can see only the second row in lagom test. To be precise, it's the second row minus the first square. Is it the best solution at the moment?
I mostly use sdr for daily tasks (browsing, movies and video in sdr) and not games, where I can inject hdr with special k in case they lack it, so the above solution is passable for now. Still have to see how d3d8 or older games look, where hdr is pointless for the most part. PG27 does not have this issue with blacks, but then it has orange smearing, an equivalent exchange so to say.

Re: Asus XG27AQDMG Discussion
You can load the ICC profile in novideo_srgb and it in that mode, which also allows for gamma calibration adjustment. See the first post for instructions on where to get the profile and how to set up novideo_srgb.
