I've decided to switch back to 144Hz and stock Blur Reduction. It just feels more responsive to me (less input lag) compared to 120Hz, even with the crosstalk slider all the way to the left.
I also want to make it clear to anyone else reading this thread that while I'm disappointed with the Blur Reduction, it's not as bad as I'm making it out to be in this thread (my expectations were simply too high), and I'm very impressed with a lot of other things about this monitor. I play CS:GO primarily, but I also watch a lot of movies. This monitor is great for my purposes, and I don't regret purchasing it.
Thanks for your help, Falkentyne.

Re: [HELP] Significant Crosstalk on XL2720Z
Glad you found setting you like.
And I agree in source type games, higher refresh rates when using vsync will feel better. (not an issue if you use vsync off and cap the frame rate, though)
Crosstalk is annoying, but people forget that blur reduction > blurry mess, especially since colors and contrast aren't degraded. An even better benefit to blur reduction is reducing brightness, some people find these monitors TOO bright even at brightness zero. Blur reduction with 1.0ms persistence fixes that in a jiffy....

Re: [HELP] Significant Crosstalk on XL2720Z
Agreed. Blur Reduction definitely helps, particularly in tracking moving targets (especially targets in my periphery). I'm sure that I would have even less input lag with Blur Reduction off at 144Hz, but I was often losing sight of people or not registering them in my brain at all until it was too late when I was trying out 144Hz without Blur Reduction. I was hoping for CRT like clarity with the VTT, but this is not the case. I suppose I could have returned the XL2720Z and taken home the VG248QE instead for CRT like clarity, but I don't want my movies to look washed out.Falkentyne wrote:Crosstalk is annoying, but people forget that blur reduction > blurry mess, especially since colors and contrast aren't degraded.
Right now, 144Hz, no VTT (obviously), Blur Reduction turned on, Persistence slider at 5.0ms, and Crosstalk slider all the way to the left is the best set up for me for CS:GO. And when watching movies, I simply turn Blur Reduction off. Good stuff.
And the wait for a monitor with a refresh rate above 144Hz continues...
