[DIY Monitor Hack] Successfully Replaced TN panel in BenQ XL2546

Post by Dim0n527 » 28 Sep 2022, 11:27

Hi all.
I want to tell you my story of replacing panel in XL2546.
I bought bricked monitor on Avito in Russla, it's domestic marketplace like eBay.
If I disassembled it, i seen that xl2546 have q250hta00.a000 panel, it's same as m250htn01.0. I searched what panel in xl2546K, and it have m250htn01.8. When I compared to it panel's on panelook, i see difference only in input lag. I bought panel from k version on taobao.
I wait for a month, and today i assembled my monitor and it work pretty well, but in service menu i see old panel q250hta00.a000 =)
Monitor price - 166$. Panel + shipping - 200$. In Russla, the price of a used monitor is about $500, new 750$. 1USD=60RUB
I think this information can be helpful for us. Good luck.

Thanks for posting this.

That's pretty neat you fixed a broken monitor with a DIY panel replacement from PanelLook.

This is not a very easy task for most, but it's not too different than replacing a cracked screen in a mobile device or laptop (something more people has done before). And there is a lot of generic monitor disassembly instructions on YouTube. Instructions that are (sorta) compatible with the majority of common 23-27" computer monitors.

Hello friends, how are you?
I hope everyone is well. I'm going to get an XL2546 from a relative of mine, but he had a problem where the screen goes white immediately or after a few minutes of turning it on. So I studied a little and noticed that the fault for this is not always related to the panel, but rather other internal components, but to analyze them I need an electrical diagram of the XL2546 model, and unfortunately I didn't find that anywhere.
I'm Brazilian and this type of repair in my country is rare to find. So I decided to fix the monitor on my own. Do you have any tips or help please? thank you all

Just google the part number. In this case, you're googling "q250hta00.a000".

There's a giant bazaar in China (aliexpress, alibaba, etc, etc) that often has hard-to-find part numbers.

Be very careful because while sometimes you do get great part numbers from these chinese bazaars like a functioning but slow RTX4010 for $100 that's some cobbled together parts but works with the chinese RTX4090 "D" drivers and supports ray tracing that's a recent-gen spiritual successor to Geforce GT 1010. Still did 110fps in CS2 and 30fps 1080p in CP2077 (RTX OFF obviously, or it goes 15fps).

It's incredible how some of the creative Shenzen electronics rework galleries, of smart educated engineers, reassemble boards from cobbled together parts, and some of them just work. For others, they're exactly the same parts that the big manufacturers use (e.g. bare LCD screens that already go in your favorite smartphones and gaming monitors) -- sometimes redirected from the same Chinese panel manufacturer factory, or resales from disassembled warranty units (e.g. good panels from bad-motherboard monitors). Many gaming monitors use BOE panels, a chinese company, and these BOE panels do flow often to Alibaba/Aliexpress/etc.

But many people have been scammed. Do your own homework.

You will NOT get refunds for purchases; be very familiar with trusted sellers if you do.

Stick to reliable and trusted long time sellers that has at least a few foreign accolades (e.g. people in the same country as you), including from third party sites, and get your in before the trade war.

I cannot stress this enough; you MUST be familiar with navigating these chinese bazaars! And experience replacing panels (including those fragile ultra-density ribbon connectors that require a tiny prod thingy (like a jewellers/watch repair screwdriver) and sometimes a magnifying glass, in order to safely unlock/lock them without breaking or cracking them. Your $100 Alibaba panel suddenly becomes worthless, if you have no experience safely connecting/disconnecting these.

Great prices to be had, but lots of duds/scams to be had.

But you definitely can repair almost most few-year-old gaming monitors if you're super careful though, but for some models you still probably will not pay much less than just buying a refurb/used domestically. Whatever's manufactured in the country of factories, you usually can get piecemeal from all the various chinese bazaar markets, but it is overwhelming to the first timer who has no experience.

Hi, just searched on Taobao for M250HTN01.0 or M250HTN01.8 panel. Both will be compatible.
