Re: Is there V3 firmware now? [XL2420Z]
Change that strobe phase down to 000.
IF you enable blur reduction at that 100 setting, the screen will turn black, because the phase overflows and actually changes the persistence (side effect) and actually turns off the backlight.
For some reason, when the monitors are upgraded, the firmware defaults to 100, when it should default to 0. Set it to 0, then you can change it normally with the windows utility. I believe the absolute highest strobe phase that will work (the crosstalk band will revert to the far bottom instead of the top as it is at 0) is 54.

Thank you guys for that info. I'm still a newbie at this
Btw, the box label says Rev: 00-122-BA, Mfg. Date: May 2014
And the firmware V3 comes with it preinstalled, lucky me I guess.

Strobe phase is ok at 000, but your strobe duty is too high for my taste (and at that high values, crosstalk is worse). I use 003 or 004.RustinSpencerCohle wrote: and is strobe duty 018, strobe phase 000, single strobe ON ok for me with v2?
Brightness depends a lot on the environment lighting.

In the utility, Persistence = Strobe duty, Crosstalk = Strobe phase, and Override = Single strobe.RustinSpencerCohle wrote:which of the values are controlled by the blur buster tool? because i did not change any in the menu as far as i remember.
The values of persistence in the utility go from 003 to 030.
001 and 002 can only be set in the service menu.
The crosstalk setting changes strobe phase from 000 to 047. For higher numbers, use the service menu. Be careful with this or you may get a black screen if the phase is too high. Always have the blur reduction in one of the shortcut buttons of the monitor, so the image displays again and you can change the settings again.
I don't know exactly, but it was something about the FPS profiles if I remember correctly. Nothing important, I think.RustinSpencerCohle wrote:and for the v3 any info on the changes from v2-v3?

Re: Is there V3 firmware now? [XL2420Z]
ok thanks for the info. i dont the picture to be too dark so therefore my setting 018, 002 or 001 would be darker than the slider to the left , right?
v3 ok if someone still has the changelog please let me know, there are a few things like changing profiles without stepping through the whole list or saving on custom profiles without losing different options from the original preset I'd like to see. thanks anyway

Re: Is there V3 firmware now? [XL2420Z]
If you are OK with that, it's fine. But wow, 3ms of strobe length. And I hate that Lightboost can't go lower than 1.4ms when playing in 3DRustinSpencerCohle wrote:i dont the picture to be too dark so therefore my setting 018
Yes, strobe length is 0.333ms and 0.167ms respectively, instead of the 0.5ms of the 003/slider to the left option. They are very dim, but I can stand 002 at night at 125Hz.RustinSpencerCohle wrote:002 or 001 would be darker than the slider to the left , right?

ok its totally off topic but i rather ask you here instead of a pm because it might interest other ppl as well, what settings do you use with that small persistance value? which preset have you chosen to use the mbr function like that on and what are your other settings? i find it rather uncolorfull and dark :/

Standard mode, brightness: 100, contrast: 40, low blue light: 0, blur reduction: on, color temperature: "100, 100, 100" (I'm colorblind, so...), AMA: High, instant mode: on, sharpness: 5, gamma: 5.RustinSpencerCohle wrote:ok its totally off topic but i rather ask you here instead of a pm because it might interest other ppl as well, what settings do you use with that small persistance value? which preset have you chosen to use the mbr function like that on and what are your other settings? i find it rather uncolorfull and dark :/
Besides that, I created an ICC profile with QuickGamma for 120 and 125 Hz with VT trick, where I set gamma to 1.54 for the three colors. It made this http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/gamma_calibration.php to be at or very close to the ideal 2.2 gamma.
For 100Hz with VT trick and 144Hz stock, QuickGamma at 1.80, 1.80 and 1.90 (values for the three colors). For 60Hz, 2.10, 2.10 and 2.25.
The gamma of the monitor changes with temperature. It looks more washed out until at least half an hour passes.
Sorry for the offtopic
