Re: Asus XG27AQDMG Discussion
I tried both 90-100 Brightness for both Gaming and Console HDR, they both exhibit that dull shade of yellow. Examples of this can be like MH Wilds benchmark tool where the benchmark score is graded yellow, you can see its perfectly vibrant in SDR but when you go HDR you understand what I mean, also the subtitles feel grayed out too there. Tried Lost Ark with Auto HDR and RTX HDR before as well, it also exhibits same issue with damage font color, goes from a very bright yellow in SDR to something that looks faded out in HDR, and turning up Saturation doesn't really help it either.

These two games aren't exactly the most reliable way to test if your colours are okay lolRewire wrote: ↑09 Mar 2025, 11:39I tried both 90-100 Brightness for both Gaming and Console HDR, they both exhibit that dull shade of yellow. when you turn on HDR and go back to Desktop or anywhere on Windows, does yellow look duller there too? Because it does for me, so I think it's an issue of tonemapping SDR to HDR output on Windows. I don't think it's an issue viewing GOOD HDR content, why you would test it with Auto HDR and another game with tons of posts about crappy HDR idk

Re: Asus XG27AQDMG Discussion
Because there are very, very handful games that have actual good HDR implementations like Cyberpunk. I recently played FF16 too and its HDR setting was pretty much a Brightness slider that changed UI brightness? I think its pointless to candy pick only 2 games that HDR can work on out of hundreds of games out there. My main point is also how LG TV's handle HDR and even Genshin Impact without HDR support on PC can look brilliant with vibrant colors and not hazy/cloudy filter on it, meanwhile I spent hours trying to fine tune in HDR and gave up because SDR just looks better pretty much._zebracrossing666 wrote: ↑09 Mar 2025, 14:08These two games aren't exactly the most reliable way to test if your colours are okay lolRewire wrote: ↑09 Mar 2025, 11:39I tried both 90-100 Brightness for both Gaming and Console HDR, they both exhibit that dull shade of yellow. If you're looking for better HDR for Monster Hunter Wilds

Re: Asus XG27AQDMG Discussion
Hello,
Just got this monitor last week and I've been settling in with it. My first OLED monitor and I think it's awesome.
I'm currently running this with an AMD Radeon 7900XT and I think I've done most of the settings/calibration such as using CRU to cap the refresh rate at 230hz. Without it, the VRR flicker was very noticeable when playing Silent Hill 2 Remake.
A couple of questions:
1. Are there any other settings that I need to set? Since I have an AMD GPU, can I clamp the sRGB? I know Nvidia GPU's can use another program for it.
2. Does this monitor automatically run pixel cleaning when the PC is off and the monitor is in standby? And/or does this monitor run pixel cleaning when your PC is idle?
Thank you.

Re: Asus XG27AQDMG Discussion
Note that this simply prevents VRR from working correctly, that's why it "fixes" the flicker.
If you select "Gaming->Game Visual->sRGB Cal Mode", then you don't need to (and should not) clamp through the driver. But if you don't use that mode, then you clamp in your Radeon control panel. Info on how to do this:1. Are there any other settings that I need to set? Since I have an AMD GPU, can I clamp the sRGB? I know Nvidia GPU's can use another program for it.

The documentation says it does run pixel cleaning when off or in standby, but I have not verified it. You'd need to sit there while the display is off for like half an hour, staring at the power LED to see if it starts blinking2. Re: Asus XG27AQDMG Discussion
just disable VRR on any game that flickers heavily bro, VRR is still highly beneficial on games that don't flicker and like RealNC said, editing stuff on CRU just means VRR isn't working correctlysoojineee wrote: ↑12 Mar 2025, 19:40Hello,

Thank you. I'm currently running it in Racing Mode with Wide Gamut color space. Would I still need to adjust the sRGB?If you select "Gaming->Game Visual->sRGB Cal Mode", then you don't need to (and should not) clamp through the driver. But if you don't use that mode, then you clamp in your Radeon control panel.
I don't think I ever caught it blinking, but who knows. Would the notification for pixel cleaning still come up if it ran prior to the notification timer? The documentation says it does run pixel cleaning when off or in standby, but I have not verified it. You'd need to sit there while the display is off for like half an hour, staring at the power LED to see if it starts blinking![]()
Also, the Auto Logo Brightness setting doesn't seem to really do anything? I can't tell the difference.

Yea, I reverted it back to the original settings. I will turn off VRR depending on the games, thanks.

Re: Asus XG27AQDMG Discussion
Yes. I don't know if the AMD driver will automatically disable the clamp when switching to HDR though or whether you need to disable it manually.
Also note that if you installed the "monitor driver" and have the Asus ICC profile active in Windows Color Management for the monitor, you will get double-clamped in some cases. So check there to see if it installed a color profile.
I wouldn't worry about it. I just run pixel cleaning every 4 to 5 hours on average. I bound the right direction of the control stick of the monitor to the pixel cleaning function so I can quickly run it when I leave my desk.I don't think I ever caught it blinking, but who knows. Would the notification for pixel cleaning still come up if it ran prior to the notification timer?
You need something bright to see it (like bold, full-white text.) It will dim it after 2-3 seconds. Brightness will jump up again if you disable it. In games, this has the negative effect of dimming bright highlights if you look at them for more than 3 seconds. If you don't mind that, then you can leave it enabled. Also, the Auto Logo Brightness setting doesn't seem to really do anything? I can't tell the difference.
