I want the fastest "raw"

Post by Pribue » 02 Apr 2025, 01:33

Hey!

I'm going to retire my ancient XL2420T (144hz), and get a 240hz. Unfortunaly, im pretty sensitive to flicker, which why I got the BenQ, as they advertise as "flicker free". This means I wont be using any tech like DyAc, or anything similar. My question is then... Is it kinda worthless to get a BenQ XL2546K? I'm also colorblind, and my XL2420T's colors are pretty washed out. I would expect a newer monitor to improve such aswell?

Basically, I want the fastest "raw" (no DyAC etc) 240hz monitor. Recommendations?

Thanks!

The Zowie XL2546K is somewhat outdated in terms of overall G2G performance & refresh rate for the price.
Have you tried a OLED desktop display or TV? They are the "fastest" (G2G doesn't limit MPRT) displays and the easiest way to experience proper sample & hold.
If you are sensitive to light flicker as you've mentioned and you've noticed you're also sensitive to OLED, then skip them.

Instead, you can consider displays such as the INNOCN 27G1S, Omen X 25 for the best 240hz experience, both being very close to MPRT in terms of motion clarity
Dell AW2523HF, ASUS XG259QN(S) or the other 360hz IPS panels if they're cheaper for you.
You could also try the “fastest” LCD panels on the market, such as the BenQ XL2546X+, Zowie XL2566X+, Zowie XL2586X+
iirc, the AOC 25G3ZM might also be decent once you adjust the gamma curve and lower the overall contrast ratio, which will speed up the G2G values to MPRT
The ACER XV242F is one of the best price/hz ratio displays on the market right now, sitting at 500€ in EU and £300 in the UK.

Have you considered 480Hz OLEDs as the best raw Hz?

They don't use PWM/flicker like AMOLED smartphones, and they produce fantastic raw motion clarity per Hz.
