Rocket Lake users - test with me please
usb 2.0 controller mode - FullSpeed (is not acessible via scewin most of the time and requires bios mod) , gives great X and Y control , reduces jitter but have no impact on heavy feeling.
ddr5 settings-
do not use xmp , do not exceed your cpu's supported frequency - for example my 14700k is rated at 5600 mhz max supported frequency, everything beyond that is considered overclock. Test 4800-5200 mhz speeds with auto timings, gear ratio 2 , command rate 2, we want minimize stress on IMC, startup mode either normal or enable fast boot.
u dont need to disable c-states , speedstep or speedshift ( u actualy need speedshift for boosting on rocket lake) but disable enhanced multi-core performance, you dont need to push all cores to maximum boost frequency, it consumes lot of power and cause a lot of heat.
pci-e related stuff in scewin:
Don't reset tc vc mapping - Disable
Multi-Vc - enable all of them
Isochronous Support for VC0/VC1- enable.
and last of all
disable High Event Precision Event TImer and
System Time and Alarm Source - use legacy RTC timer instead of ACPI timer
in windows: remove all your bcdedits, dont use anything , not even disabledynamictick , keep it stock.
I know we tried timer stuff milion times but i want you to to use this combination of settings. After few months im still saying usb 2.0 controller mode is huge for input latency but doesnt really fix that slowdown mode yet it makes it much much more playable. Im using 14700k with gigabyte aours z790 ax-w , if u want to check my bios settings here is my nvram https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dcgVqw ... sp=sharing , so i want you to check it because this issue dont have just one single universal fix.

Its in bios section that is not acessible by scewin on newer mobos, z390,z490,am4 should be fine but newer than that u need to modify bios file and use usb flashback function to load it. I dont know why they changed it. Also it jas been removed from AM5 and they only left empty text strings "usb 2.0 controller mode" but the setting is absent on every am5 bios file, which is the reason i refunded 7800x3d and took 14700k instead. This is how it can be done https://github.com/BoringBoredom/UEFI-Editor , https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nVLhAMNiIZs

Check an MSI motherboard, it has the USB 2.0 controller mode, by the way. But I have an ASRock X870E Taichi if I send you my nvram.txt file, can you take a look at it?

Mb rtc timer even if its old timer will be better choice since its on motherboard itself instead of cpu which means in theory he should be more stable and not affected by cpu bottlenecks or cpu various speeds (tsc timer is inside cpu as many of you know).

Re: Rocket Lake users - test with me please
Most likely it only has empty text strings of usb 2.0 controller mode , but the data are not present ifr . trust me bro i've checked around 12 top tier am5 mobos. Its just empty text in bios. And well, i dont have such high framerates as 7800x3d had ( like 650-750]), most of the time im on 400-550 fps 1280x1024 high settings but its buttery smooth and i believe this issue is combination of many things. My story with this issue started 14 years ago , where i was peacuflly grinding games like cs 1.6 , tfc, hl dm, enjoying the goldsrc engine with fcking pentiu. 4 and agp card with some old ddr400 kit, but then i bricked the board and bought newer with ddr2 and pcie gpu and it was over for me. Thats why i am so hardly convicted that this shit is strictly hardware/motherboard related, damn i was using xp sp3 at that time. So i focus my tweaking to keep functions i need ON but i want as much legacy stuff as i can enabled. For example thhe board i bricked and everything was running buttersmooth on it, didnt even had high precision event timer, usb ports was running fullspeed / low speed mode. Everything worked till upgrade

Re: Rocket Lake users - test with me please
I had an MSI MAG X870 motherboard, I exported the BIOS settings with SCEWIN, and there was an 'USB 2.0 Controller Mode' option. But I don’t really understand this can a 3.0 controller also operate in a lower mode?

Re: Rocket Lake users - test with me please
your nvram.txt shows that Don't reset tc vc mapping is enabled

Re: Rocket Lake users - test with me please
This is very nice topic and 100% true, but on my new asus mb am5 scewin exports in my opinion now like 50% of the options, chat gpt tell me to mod the bios like you are saying for at least turn my hpet, because on my old mb asus i just open bios settings hpet to off, restart pc and i am good to go,but now its like you only i can see 50% of the options, and not even the cool ones,i think amit the creator of scewin should come back, this is maybe the third time im saying it,but i think using scewin its way easy and safe, then moding bios in my opinion.agendarsky wrote: ↑15 Jun 2025, 15:03usb 2.0 controller mode - FullSpeed (is not acessible via scewin most of the time and requires bios mod) , gives great X and Y control , reduces jitter but have no impact on heavy feeling.
