Life saving zero input lag glitch on 1680x1050 screen resolution

Post by dermodemon » 12 Jun 2025, 15:38

Hello guys i found a weird and at the same time amazing glitch on my monitor(??) or resolution(???).
As all of you i am struggling with floaty mouse, input lag and bad recoil feeling in many games. I have a 27" 2560x1440 165hz monitor and always playing on that resolution.
Today i tried different resolutions and found that when i change my display resolution to 1680x1050 165hz in games i have absolutely zero input lag, no floaty mouse feeling and so on.

MOST IMPORTANT THING is that this is the only one screen resolution where my games take a very long time to minimize (and when my games are minimizing, my monitor turns off completely for 5-6 seconds)
and all other screen resolutions minimize my games almost instantly.
My windows desktop resolution is set to 2560x1440 165hz

Do you think that the long minimization of games is related to input lag?
And is it possible to transfer the settings of this resolution to 2560x1440 and other resolutions via CRU?

Image

I tried to find 1680x1050 165hz in CRU but i can not find anything related to it in here
In nvidia control panel my scaling is set to Aspect ratio and display (default)
Today i tried to set this resolution to CS2, Hunt Showdown, Dayz, Squad. It worked absolutely everywhere.

On my monitor's OSD it looks like this(why not 1680x1050 ??? i am confused a little bit) Image

I recorded a video how long does it take to minimize dayz for example.

Without lecturing you too much, I'm going to get straight to the point.
This isn't a glitch but I'm not sure I completely understand what is happening. If the monitor shows 1920x1080 while the ingame resolution is 1680x1050 then GPU scaling is being used.
My guess is that the real resolution is 1920x1080 165 Hz, which is then scaled to 1680x1050. The reason why this might not be visible is because 1680x1050 doesn't have black bars with any scaling method.
If your screen goes blank while minimizing, that indicates exclusive fullscreen mode being used, which might not have been the case when your desktop and ingame resolutions were matched.

i checked every possible resolution with present mon. every resolution (even this 1680x1050) are in Hardware: Legacy Flip
Because i disabled FSE via regedit and check "disable fullscreen optimizations" on my games exe files.
So why only 1680x1050 is playable without input delay and with snappy mouse feeling but others - dont/ And why this is the only resolution which is minimizing my games so slow:?: Can somebody explain?

1) Did you add this resolution using CRU, or was it there by default?
2) Have you tested if the same thing happens at 1440×900?
3) Have you checked the latency markers with AMD FRM, NVIDIA Frameview or something like that?
4) Can you do some runs in humanbench.com to check if the difference is noticeable. This is the most complete "end to end" without ldat but with a higher variance.

1) No it's default
2) Yes i tested. Only 1680x1050 is working like this
3) I do not want to install any type of monitoring and other bloatware especially by nvidia and amd. Trying to keep my windows as clean as possible. I found a fix for myself and i am scared to "broke" something again. Shit i will not update even a driver right now. It's working fine and i am afraid to touch it
4) I use this resolution only in games. My windows is running 2560x1440. So it doesn't make any sense sorry
