Gsync monitor tearing while Windows is duplicating to another display?

Post by KNTain » 29 Jun 2025, 23:06

I've got a dedicated emulation desktop running MAME in traditional fullscreen mode on a gsync display, and while it works great in standard use, I've been having Windows "Duplicate" this to a capture card and I've noticed screen tearing on the primary gsync display when doing so. If Windows is set to "Extend" or "PC Screen Only" I get a perfectly stable image.

Is this typical? Is there no way to duplicate a gsync display to another display without the main gsync display exhibiting tearing? I don't mind that the image sent to the capture card shows tearing.
