Monitor suggestions for infrared lightgun arcade cab, old school lightgun games, custom unity games, etc

Hello,

I am new to the world of high-end TVs and monitors. I'm a CRT TV enthusiast with a few RGB mods under my belt. I've switched gears recently and have been exploring modern screens, and have learned an immense amount of information from this website, kudos.

I'm a member of the OpenFire lightgun team. Openfire (OF) is an open source, cross platform lightgun solution that uses a series of IR LEDs placed around the screen, in conjunction with an IR camera in the gun, and in most uses is interpreted as a USB-style mouse by whatever machine its plugged into. The camera itself is hardware locked to approximately 60 updates a second.

I'm looking to build an arcade cabinet, probably with a 27" screen, that will be primarily used with emulators running lightgun games on systems from SNES/genesis to PS2. In addition to that, my friends and I were hoping to experiment with a custom lightgun game we were hoping to make in Unity, that would rely on lots of the great info I've found around here for optimal, smooth motion from the ground up. We are chasing that original CRT look and motion, in a modern package.

A few considerations/notes :
-only using Nvidia GPUs
-mid to high end computer is available to drive the screen
-budget could be 500-1000 cdn, and i'm happy to buy used if an option presented itself.
-interested in using shaders/effects where possible
-4K would be nice
-I daily drive Linux, but would likely use windows for the unity project

With all this in mind, I was hoping that someone could make a suggestion for some specific monitors that suit my circumstances, and If the way I'm spitballing here is sending out any warning signs, please let me know.

Cheers

T
