Suggestions for old 240Hz TN monitors?

Post by morticianpicket » 18 Aug 2025, 03:01

I’m looking for information on older 240Hz TN monitors.

From what I understand, Zowie is the leader in this category, but it’s about twice as expensive as some of the used models available.

Are there any other interesting TN monitors I might be overlooking?

I’m not considering IPS, since they caused me eye strain back in 2017. There are also some fast VA options, but I’m hesitant to try them due to potential ghosting issues (like with the Ffalcon Thunderbird Q7).

Some models I’m currently looking at:

Asus TUF Gaming VG258QM

HP OMEN X 25f

AGON AG271QX

i would avoid getting any of those TN's you've mentioned. Zowie 240hz TN's are mediocre.

The only worthwhile TN's in that category would be G-SYNC module TN's, which you can find here (look for ones with "GSYNC" in 1-240hz range)
Only purchase the models I've mentioned above if they're priced at a competitive price point of ~200 euros (even this is excessive, considering that 540hz E-TN's such as XV242F and AG246FK were 300-400€ and AW2524HF can be had for 400-500€)

Save up and get a rapid-TN in 6 months or in a year (e.g.: MSI 242R X60N, ASUS XG248QSG etc.), that's a more future-proof purchase.

check out tiansu and teefy 24 inch 1080p monitors

they even have better scaler than zowie (more sharp on old poop resolutions, faster alt tabbing)
