I would like to ask for experiences on this topic as I just got around to try the oldest version of the Z490-F and I'm shocked how much more responsive everything is and how bad the newer versions are in comparison.
Originally I wanted to share the steps of downgrading for ASUS Strix boards but I realized this process can leave you with a dead motherboard so unless someone really wants to do it at their own risk, I'm not going to make a tutorial about it.
Again, the difference between the latest and the oldest BIOS version is so insane, I might have to record it.
Anyways, the question stands for people with newer CPUs and their experiences with BIOS updates.

Re: Experiences with BIOS downgrading
On my Asus B550m motherboard, you can downgrade the BIOS version without any worries. Just download the file to a USB flash drive, plug it in, and hold down the BIOS update button. That's it. This way, you can install any version, even a corrupted one.
Re: Experiences with BIOS downgrading
This happens on every gen and some bios versions are good some are bad , newer or older is not a indicator
Re: Experiences with BIOS downgrading
I felt there was a -slight- difference, but not necessarily better or worse, on a Z490 Apex/10900k, maybe I’ll try again
Re: Experiences with BIOS downgrading
I've tried all BIOS versions from f1 to f13, but there's no improvement! thanks to the author for writing on this forum, but there is a huge but! when you reset the bios or reassemble the assembly, or just take out the components and put them back in! There will be improvements, but not for long! There will be no wow effect!it will seem that the problem has been solved! But alas, no!A placebo? No! since this sometimes helps, it will reset the uncorrected bios boot! I've gained a bit of experience in this!(big) I write without negativity!Sorry for my English, for the translator!
And so I want to write to the author, how many days have passed?and still the wow effect? What are your results in competitive games?or maybe there are aim tests before and after?(screenshots)

Re: Experiences with BIOS downgrading
2 days have passed and it's been a long time since I was looking for any "wow effects". I wanted to try this because I generally don't trust that Management Engine firmware and microcode updates leave systems without a degraded experience. So I can't provide benchmarks, screenshots or videos because I decided to do this on a whim and the effects are still there for me.BARGHEST wrote: ↑27 Sep 2025, 16:29I've tried all BIOS versions from f1 to f13, but there's no improvement! thanks to the author for writing on this forum, but there is a huge but! when you reset the bios or reassemble the assembly, or just take out the components and put them back in!
