ViewSonic Strobe Utility tool: no custom profiles?

Ask about motion blur reduction in gaming monitors. Includes ULMB (Ultra Low Motion Blur), NVIDIA LightBoost, ASUS ELMB, BenQ/Zowie DyAc, ToastyX, black frame insertion (BFI), and now framerate-based motion blur reduction (framegen / LSS / etc).

ViewSonic Strobe Utility tool: no custom profiles?

Post by nuninho1980 » 08 Oct 2025, 17:27

Hello. I tested 150Hz BFI-HW for 50Hz + BFI-SW ("120-safe-BFI" shader at sub-frames 3) by ShaderGlass for watch live TV@50Hz signal or any 50fps video and I get no any burn-in issue. I adore ViewSonic XG2431!! <3

But does "ViewSonic Strobe Utility" tool not have any "Custom" (PureXP+) profile?

Best regards. ;)

No, since there's many different kinds of 150 Hz that would require 150 different kinds of custom profiles. It depends on the timings you use -- such as whether you use "Large Vertical Total", like a 150Hz mode that delivers 150Hz refresh cycles over the video cable in just 1/240sec (instead of 1/150sec or 1/155sec or 1/175sec etc).

I don't clarify any vertical frequencies and LVT! But yes... How do I create/save new profile on "Custom" of PureXP+??

Create a profile's name for "Custom" of PureXP+ is REQUIRED!

Examples on your tool:
- I would create new profile as 1st of "Custom" and digit "150fps host for 50Hz guest for watch 50fps TV/videos" (use "ShaderGlass" tool (example), if any monitor can't enable hardware strobe for 50Hz):
150Hz host for 50Hz guest.JPG
150Hz host for 50Hz guest.JPG (61.17 KiB) Viewed 328 times
- I would add new profile and digit "59.94Hz host for TV/videos and for retrogamer" after 1st profile created:
59.94Hz host.JPG
59.94Hz host.JPG (60.73 KiB) Viewed 328 times

NOTE: we get little sad for crosstalk issue at 60Hz on console games (because we can't increase "Large Vertical Total") and for strobe not work at 50Hz on TV box and on old PAL retro console games.

It's a very good idea.

It would have to happen at some future date (sometime well into 2026).
It is currently being evaluated that a generic version of Strobe Utility may be open sourced.

Blur Busters are focussing on other initiatives at the moment...
