I’ve run into something confusing regarding chipset drivers and wanted to see if anyone has insight.
System:
CPU: Ryzen 5 7600X
Motherboard: Gigabyte A620M S2H
OS: Windows 11 24H2
When I first built this system 2 months ago, I only installed GPU drivers. Mouse input felt normal and predictable.
A few days later, I installed the AMD chipset driver package and rebooted. Immediately, mouse input became faster and harder to control during gaming and general use. This was very similar to what I experienced on a previous Ryzen system after installing chipset drivers as well.
At that time, I removed some of the chipset related devices through Device Manager, which improved things slightly, but not completely.
Yesterday, Windows Update installed some updates and also reinstalled the chipset components I had removed earlier. After rebooting, mouse input now feels more stable and consistent than before. My aim feels more predictable and controlled.
The confusing part is that the same chipset package that felt bad before now feels better. No hardware changed.
Has anyone seen this before, or know why the chipset driver behavior would be different now compared to before?

Yes for me default install without chipset drivers is the best on 7800x3d and perviously on 3600x but fps is not that good

Re: AMD Chipset Driver Issue
Now I just install a clean Windows installation and update all updates and drivers through the settings, but I no longer install drivers from the motherboard and AMD manufacturer's website. And I get a good gaming experience. I no longer manually update any drivers; I only install those downloaded from Microsoft servers.
This is very strange.
System:
CPU: Ryzen 7 7800x3d (iGPU disabled)
Motherboard: B650 AORUS ELITE AX V2

Re: AMD Chipset Driver Issue
After i saw this post i uninstall the chipset driver for 9800x3d joined server and hit everything i shoot game was perfect but 60hz. Before uninstalling game was smooth as hell but couldnt hit anything. Installed the chipset driver again got 240 hz back but i cant shoot anything there is no hitreg at all. Its feel like im playing at 200 ping and enemys are playing from lan pc's. Is there any solutions to this issue?
Re: AMD Chipset Driver Issue
Did you reinstall windows to get the default drivers back? Also, if you did reinstall windows, do you still see any amd devices in device manager under System Devices? Thanks.Misha1337 wrote: ↑10 Nov 2025, 10:19Quajila wrote: ↑10 Nov 2025, 04:55I’ve run into something confusing regarding chipset drivers and wanted to see if anyone has insight.

Re: AMD Chipset Driver Issue
On your clean installation of Windows, do you still see any AMD devices in device manager under System Devices? And does Windows ever try and install any AMD drivers? I think they are named as "Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.".naporitan wrote: ↑15 Nov 2025, 14:56Now I just install a clean Windows installation and update all updates and drivers through the settings, but I no longer install drivers from the motherboard and AMD manufacturer's website. Yes, I install all the drivers Windows offers. But I don't install drivers from the official motherboard or AMD website. I install drivers downloaded from Microsoft servers, and everything works perfectly under those circumstances.Quajila wrote: ↑20 Nov 2025, 03:30On your clean installation of Windows, do you still see any AMD devices in device manager under System Devices? In BIOS I enable only EXPO and secureboot.
