Just hit 340Hz!

Talk about overclocking displays at a higher refresh rate. This includes homebrew, 165Hz, QNIX, Catleap, Overlord Tempest, SEIKI displays, certain HDTVs, and other overclockable displays.

I assume you have to bypass the monitor's 'out of range' protection in order to do this? If so, how exactly do you do that? I might be interested in testing higher than 170Hz on my CRT.

Also, doing this can cause permanent damage to the gun, right?
This worked without any Out Of Range protection bypass.

Wow congrats hitting 340hz! I thought the iiyama vision master pro was the only one that can do 800x600@200hz. My crt at best can do that only on 640x480@200hz. Dang I wish it was possible to bypass the out of range frequency in crt monitors.

That's amazing. I wish modern lcd/led panels could do that :(

This is incredible.

Im not sure however if I would prefer to run at 340Hz or to run with a Gsync monitor. I guess the Gsync monitor would be more fluid?

I would only be able to enjoy the 340Hz if i had 340fps right?

340 hz monitor would be better then any G-Sync monitor because you can just enable v-sync and there would only be 4ms~ of added input lag if you can KEEP 340fps+ at all times, Even without vsync I BELIVE even with the tearing and getting 300fps+ the experience would be smoother then 120hz Gsync.

Not sure what You even doing here guys if You don't know basics with CRTs, 340hz CRT would beat any panel with G, S or X sync by You have no clue how far... It's like comparing a Lambo to Trabant... Having FPS under 340 would make no big difference at those refresh-rates also.

Most dangerous thing to Your tube is contrast, hz is like meh, I would suggest using ~80% contrast, it will extend lifetime by years, also try to clean it up from dust, which is main reason for CRT death. Just don't end up with Your own death

Can I ask what program did You use to set the refresh rate? Thing You are posting seems to be physically impossible due to horizontal refresh rate limitations, which is really mediocre on Your monitor (125khz), and 640x480 340hz would require something like 200khz in real world...
