Zowie XL2546K horizontal image breaks at 450+ FPS even walking forward (DyAc OFF/ON)

Hey guys,

I have a Zowie XL2546K (2023 build, firmware V009, genuine AUO Q250HTN00 panel), and I'm seeing horizontal tearing that literally splits the screen during normal gameplay at over 450 FPS.

Setup: Ryzen AM5 7500f + NVIDIA 4070sup with DDU + NVCleanstall, clean driver install, DP 1.4 cable, 1080p@240Hz. Latency tests show an average DPC of 1.8 ms and a photon input latency of 3 ms—everything else is optimized.

The issue occurs even when simply moving forward in CS2 bot matches or DM servers—fast mouse movement isn't required. DyAc off/on, AMA High, sharpness 10, brightness 60%. Standard mode.

The maintenance menu shows confirmation of the EDID PASS.

Is this normal behavior for a TN panel's scan line refresh rate, where the frame rate significantly exceeds the refresh rate, or does it indicate a panel defect requiring an RMA? Don't want to blindly cap the FPS at 240 for CS2.

Thanks for any information!

That's called tearing. You either solve that by getting a 610Hz TN (making it less visible in fixed rr) or by using G-SYNC/VRR+VSYNC+Reflex on your current monitor.

Tempting offer, but it wasn't even this bad on my fast IPS monitor.
Why, when buying a cyber-sport TN monitor, do I get this? Do all cyber-sport players and strong CS:GO/CS2 players get this? Are they all blind or what?

Because better G2G RT's make it more apparent.
Tearing is a byproduct of the mismatch between your GPU's output (game logic Hz) and your refresh rate (vertical frequency)
Yes, they're all blind.
See: https://blurbusters.com/faq/benefits-of ... resh-rate/

You can easily test yourself whether you'll notice a difference in behavior if you try using GSYNC+VSYNC+Reflex in-game.
Use fps_max 0 when you do that.

cs2 1% lows are horrific, i can get 800fps but have like 200fps 1% lows

I dont know what that guy is on but i had an IPS 280hz and switched to an 600hz tn and i never had any of those tearing, even at lower fps. It seens like some misconfiguration on your part, idk, try switching from hdmi to displayport (if that zowie is compatible).

1.) Don't overclock
2.) Rely on GSYNC+VSYNC+Reflex with a +540Hz LCD and use fps_max 0
3.) Rely on FSE (HW:LFlip)
Best you can do in that game that doesn't involve introducing 1-2 frames of additional latency (e.g.: using RTSS Front-Edge or Back-Edge)

High enough refresh rate 'hides' the tearing from plain sight. Only 'proper' solution to completely hide it is GSYNC+VSYNC+Reflex.
The other is fixed refresh rate & VSYNC.
Perhaps some RTSS Scanline-Sync sheningans as well when fixed refresh rate, but I doubt anyone would care enough.

Sure but how in my setup its not so bad/noticiable like the OP pic? His tearing is so severe. Maybe too low mouse polling rate? Its so strange.

fact. thx valve and source.
The only approximate solution is to buy an excellent processor that will not significantly spoil the 1%

With RTSS Scanline-Sync, it's like night and day, no tearing.
240 is the lock for RTSS.
When I lock it to 240, there are still tearing and it feels like there's more system lag.

It's also really strange that on bots, when I'm running at 400 fps, the lag feels worse than with RTSS Scanline-Sync.

Tried HDMI and DP. Mouse 1kHz and 2kHz too.
