cs2 input delay
RTX 4070 Super, 9800X3D, EVGA SuperNOVA 850 T2
lurked this forum forever, first noticed input lag issues since 2020. I have the classic inability to react fast enough or shoot at what i am actually seeing in game, strafing & jumping around corners becomes difficult when desync is unpredictable. Recently I wondered if it was an internet problem as when anybody would start watching cable TV my game would immediately break and it was as if my gaming packets became less prioritized and my games POV was consistently held back in time. I now mostly believe the internet is irrelevant to this, as when I disable my NIC in device manager and unplug the ethernet and load a offline map of cs2 my game is still just as unpredictable as it is online. As many of other people find, the game is a lot more playable in the middle of the night when nothing else is drawing power or connected to the internet, but also when I am home alone during the day my game will be equally as playable as it is during the night. This has happened to me in 4 different houses all around the Vancouver area on 5 different computers. In 2020 I tried a 90% pure sine wave inverter with a LiFePO4 battery and the overall feeling ingame wasn't that great. Are there any practical solutions to this? Can an electrician run a dedicated circuit avoid interference from other household appliances drawing power on the same line?

I'm experiencing the same, I have a 9800x3d and a 5070 gpu, its like my game is running at 60hz and when I shoot my mouse feels so delayed, at times it feels like I can't do anything even though I know what I'm capable of, if you find a solution please lmk

Re: cs2 input delay
under input lag ingame i get 120v-122v and during perfect game i get 120v-122v, so i think this problem is related to harmonic issues. not voltage sag

Re: cs2 input delay
Are the in game symptoms of input lag being caused by voltage sag, grounding issues, or harmonic distortion distinguishable from each other or do they all feel identical to the player in game? At my location I have measured normal grounding impedance and stable voltage under load, which leads me to believe that harmonic distortion is my issue.
Wouldn't a true online double conversion UPS address all three of these potential causes at the same time? Since a double-conversion UPS always runs off the battery while simultaneously recharging it, the output is a freshly regenerated clean sine wave that never passes utility power through to the computer, essentially isolating it from voltage sag, grounding noise, and harmonic distortion regardless of which one is the actual culprit? Even if the UPS' output doesn't replicate the conditions of a location of where a pro player would play from, would it be clean enough to eliminate these variables?

Re: cs2 input delay
chatgpt told me a double conversion ups would fix it, within the next 1 or 2 months im buying one and trying it, ill report here if it fixes itlyar wrote: ↑24 Feb 2026, 00:39Are the in game symptoms of input lag being caused by voltage sag, grounding issues, or harmonic distortion distinguishable from each other or do they all feel identical to the player in game? Re: cs2 input delay
do you also have reduced monitor quality? like my 1440p looks closer to 1080 but if i shake the wires it becomes a bit clearer and smoother

Re: cs2 input delay
Shaking your USB cables you mean?
Or HDMI/DisplayPort cables you mean?
[spoiler]
If it's USB cables and mouse cables that you are shaking...
While longshot -- try better-shielded USB cables and keep data wires (USB) away from your monitor, away from power bricks/supplies & and away from power wires.
Cheaply made USB cables are prone to data loss, packet loss, etc.
Error-correction micro-delays on USB cables on data corruption / loose connectors / etc can add jitter/stutter.
This is as much as I will veer into that electrical-related territory before moving this thread to the other forum.

Re: cs2 input delay
My uncle uses an AV Receiver when he uses his TV, and it is usually always on. When he watches TV and leaves everything on my game is not playable at all. The weeks he is away from home for work, my games feeling is considerably better overall, despite some inconsistencies. Also when the laundry machines are in use my game has this same inconsistent feeling, even if short-lived. I have had this input lag problem with my NIC disabled in device manager and on many computers, mice, keyboards, and monitors over the years in several locations in Vancouver BC so I believe I am dealing with harmonic distortion in my areaChief Blur Buster wrote: ↑25 Feb 2026, 22:44Shaking your USB cables you mean?
