Trying to keep variable input lag at bay

Post by Hyote » 03 Mar 2026, 10:05

I found yet another thing that I find worthy enough to post here. I came across a tool by LuSlower, https://github.com/LuSlower/MemDrain which made me remember how some users here mentioned ISLC improving their situation. This I think does a lot more, so I tried to use this program similarly with scripts and so far I can say that it eliminated the kind of input lag that varied over time for me.
I'm also still working on a personal Windows project which is already at a stage where I can see my latency being as low as possible so it was a good testing base for this specific program.
I uploaded it to https://github.com/Hyyote/files-/tree/main/MemDrain so anyone is free to try if it helps or not.

Why both tools are called "Mem Drain" tho? Also are their changes to the system revertable? Because I don't want to reinstall windows, currently.
Thanks for your efforts

I don't understand, there is an .exe and a .ps1 script. It doesn't do anything permanent or it should'nt in theory. Since then I integrated it into my game optimizer instead.

What I uploaded at first. 5000ms drain and 4500 ms timeout. Going to rework the app again because it's completely broken once again.

Does your input delay change over time? I have this situation, if I press the DPI button on the mouse several times, then my mouse becomes more responsive. I do not know what this is related to. But it's even available on Linux and Android systems. Is your program able to fix this problem?

Yes, it helps me greaty with that. The version I released yesterday is the first one to even recognize correct game threads as well so it's probably the best time to try it.

Okay, I would try your version of the script, but the link to it is incorrect, 404 error when navigating (https://github.com/Hyyote/files-/tree/main/MemDrain 404 error). I'm wondering if I can completely remove changes in mouse sensitivity after several presses of the DPI button using your script. Now my mouse becomes more responsive after a few DPI clicks. This is weird.

I took the script down and embedded the function into my program like I mentioned earlier. But if you want to try the whole original thing, it's at https://github.com/LuSlower/MemDrain

So, I just need to run this program as an administrator after Windows starts, and the input lag shouldn't change over time, regardless of the number of processes in the system and other factors? Shouldn't there be any games running while this program is running, like CS2? Doesn't this program change game priorities and threads?
