motherboard causing input delay ? weird fix

Post by apachenikov » 05 Mar 2026, 14:29

TLDR : XHCI hands-off and wifi/bluetooth support are inexplicably causing input delay, fix (FOR MY RIG) is disabling them in the bios

greatings ! I'm a newbie and been a lurker of the forum, i had an input delay issue since I upgraded my pc around 6 months ago, and I tried so many fixes, just like most people on this forum I beleive, a month ago I found out that uninstalling MediaTek wifi drivers from my system made it feel better, I thought it was a placebo at first (like most things I tried) but it was reproducible and consistent.

I wasnt happy though because it made things better but my mouse movements still felt very akward, I then discovered (or rather an AI did) that disabling "XHCI hands-off" in my bios which was enabled by default, made the games and mouse movement in desktop feel even better.

I know it sounds like some placebo tweaks, but everytime i fall for placebo changes, it only lasts a day or two at most, its been severral weeks and I'm absolutely confident those are causing issues.

but my cursor doesnt feel as good as it did before on my old config.

config :
4060 ti
ryzen 7800x3d
msi mag B650 tomahawk wifi
cooler master k550 psu
corsair 32go ram

my old config was:
ryzen 3700x
ASUS-TUF-B450-PLUS-GAMING
BALLISTIX 16 go ram
rest is the same

Do you have any idea if the general problem is my motherboard ? I tried so many things, most registry tweaks i could find, nvcp settings (default is better), windows optimisations, hpet timings, my grounding is great....

Wouldn’t be surprised, my Bluetooth runs off my usb controller for instance: https://ibb.co/997GvPLG

And the XHCI hand off is most likely altering the electrical states when booting, concluding to a more positive feel to you, rather than actual “input lag”.

Maybe try not owning a garbage PSU?
I wouldn't even be surprised if you're like the vast majority of other users here and have a terrible RAM timing profile set.
No amount of software tuning can compensate bad hardware choices.

This is the funniest sentence I've read in a while on these subforums. Thanks for the laugh.
Impressive how confident you use terms you're ignorant about.

You have absolutely no clue what you are talking about, sorry to break it to you.

damn bro did you have a bad day ? I'm not a computer nerd, I just want to play counter strike, do you suggest the PSU is the cause of my input delay ? I take the input, but I have vey stable input lag without any stutters, wouldn't a bad psu also cause stutters ? do you think I should upgrade the PSU ?

I will definitely try this. I’ve also had the same feeling as you right after I built my new PC with this motherboard.
I hope we can find a solution — I’ve been considering replacing it.
