LG C5 OLED and Adrenaline settings

Talk about AMD's FreeSync and VESA AdaptiveSync, which are variable refresh rate technologies. They also eliminate stutters, and eliminate tearing. List of FreeSync Monitors.

LG C5 OLED and Adrenaline settings

Post by cybermat » 21 Apr 2026, 07:38

Hello,
since in this forum maybe there a lot of users with LG OLED series, maybe they've been through my issue.

I had a Samsung QLED with Hdmi 2.1 VRR and for some apps, i needed to keep VRR off. I was used to add game under Adrenaline settings and put freesync voice off.

It seems that with LG OLED C5 (48") this tricks is not possible. If in the global settings, Freesync option is ON, when i start the app with the exception i continue to have freesync ON. So i tried to globally keeping it off and adding under Adrenaline settings apps where having freesync on, but in that case i continue to have Freesync off...

Since LG C5 has a Game optimizer, i tried to turn it off, with same behaviour.

The only way to turn ON/OFF freesync is via remote control, but unfortunately there's not a dedicated button and you need to go through a lot of voices. I use this PC with RX 6400 as Mediacenter, i don't play any PC games with that, just retrogaming with Mame, Retroarch, Flycast and so on

It's a bit annoying this "issues" , hoping that is not LG C5 related but just about my enviroment.

any hints ? thanks

You could create a custom ToastyX mode with the VRR range deleted.

Get ToastyX CRU from www.monitortests.com and create a custom refresh rate with no VRR range.
