ASUS 24" VG249QM5

Post by huncho233 » 01 May 2026, 02:37

Hello, sorry if i've posted this in the wrong section.

I've recently bought the ASUS 24" VG249QM5A monitor and started reading about the best way to reduce input lag for games like CS2 and Valorant.

I've tried various settings and yesterday read about ELMB and i'm not sure what to use. So i'm wondering purely for FPS games whats the best settings to reduce input lag
Variable OD Level 1-5 , ELMB e.t.c

Thank you very much in advance.

ELMB reduces motion blur, not input lag.

The monitor cannot reduce input lag in general. Your setting on your PC are responsible for that.

(Eye-tracked) motion blur is a form of latency, technically :D
A monitor can reduce (the total) input lag in form of better G2G RT performance & higher refresh rate, if by "input lag", one means total system latency.
This is, if one relies on the definition of "total system latency", that Nvidia uses for their Reflex explanations

Thanks for the quick responses. I now understand the PC Is responsible for this :)

Well a more direct question would be should i be using ELMB-Sync for games like CS2?

I don't have a display with that feature, but from what I'm reading about it, it sucks :P It's not capable of reducing motion blur unless FPS is within a very narrow window. It tries to do what Nvidia Pulsar is doing (meaning g-sync + strobing at the same time,) but fails at it.

Enable ELMB at maximum refresh rate and you'll achieve ~0,96ms strobe interval ("effective 1033Hz refresh rate")
Cap frame rate to refresh rate (to try and keep tearline at bay, can also resort to RTSS Scanline-Sync for best results in regards to tearing management at fixed refresh rate)
Play. :D

no ELMB sucks :P

There are too many side effects such as eye strain, headaches, and fatigue for many people caused by the screen, without sufficient benefits to offset them.
