NVIDIA G-Sync Pulsar monitor - Asus ROG Strix XG27AQNGV

Ask about motion blur reduction in gaming monitors. Includes ULMB (Ultra Low Motion Blur), NVIDIA LightBoost, ASUS ELMB, BenQ/Zowie DyAc, ToastyX, black frame insertion (BFI), and now framerate-based motion blur reduction (framegen / LSS / etc).

Would it be dumb to suggest the following to nvidia?
"Another idea, if we can't get pulse width can we at least get the option to add an offset to how strict the Gsync pulse monitor is for frame pacing? Sometimes Reflex enabled games I can how all the overlays show 120 fps but there might be a slight dip or random dropped frame rate where it would be less jarring to let Gsync pulsar continue pulsing at 120 fps vs trying to compensate heavily for an outlier frame drop. It should use compensation pulses to gradually move the strobing up and down in frequency but only if it's gradual changes in frame rate, otherwise it should ignore the outlier otherwise in some games Gsync pulsar might be trying to engage/disengage constantly in some games where the frame pacing isn't perfect or there's areas where asset streaming causes the frame drop. "
Games I see this in currently is Arknights: endfield, wuthering waves, league of legends to name a few.
Worth suggesting, we might get some insight into how its really working. Though if they make it significantly more lenient, I think we might start seeing brightness flicker during small frame drops. Currently the strobing is imperceivable.

It seems they leaned towards no strobing flicker/crosstalk for a little less clarity.

Good evening everyone,

I just got the Asus Pulsar monitor and updated to the newest version of firmware. Overall the monitor is amazing on a ton of games. I did have some issues with the ULMB 2.0 at 60hz though. It seems to just be doing a TON of flickering when I play PS5 and Switch 2 with it. Also it looks a little sharper in motion but nothing that big. So little that others that are looking at it can't really tell either. I'm wonder if I'm doing something wrong with it in that mode or if the newest firmware has a bug with it currently? I tried a lot of different games that I believe should be locked to 60 on the different consoles but they all were pretty challenging to play due to the intense flickering. Any suggestions?

Hey can you guys check something for me, I think I MIGHT have found a bug or maybe it's just my luck with the badly optimized games I like to play. I sent a bug report to nvidia already but wanted to see if anyone can reproduce what I'm seeing (using the asus pulsar monitor on latest nvidia drivers and latest firmware).
I also would like to mention I'm running an AMD ryzen 9800X3D + 5090 so I shouldn't be bottlenecked GPU wise. This currently observed in a steam game called "Eternal Return" (free to play), in nvidia control panel for this specific game, I set low latency mode to "on" and NOT ultra, Gsync enabled for full screen and borderless windowed mode, Vsync = application setting (this will be important later) and I also turn on the Gsync watermark indicator to show that Gsync is active, I also have riva tuner for FPS capping and frame time graph, monitor OSD to show FPS graph as well just to see if they both coincide and how fps capping lower affects Gsync pulsar motion clarity. Open up the game settings in top right corner (settings cog) and set the resolution to 2560 x 1440 if not already, Display mode = "borderless Fullscreen", Graphics = ultra, Enable Vsync turned ON. Now to test the settings real quick, go to "Game Start" -> "Training" -> "Practice Mode" -> select any character -> select "quick start" on bottom right. If you pan the camera from left to right using either the arrow keys or your mouse up against the edges, you'll see you can see your username above your character almost perfectly with no artifacts, double images/crosstalk. Now press ESC and change Vsync to OFF and set the FPS limit to either 120 or 144, get out of the menu and pan the camera again, you'll notice now there's visual crosstalk/double imaging on your name and elements across the screen. This happens regardless if you force Vsync = on through nvidia control panel, just recommended to put to "let 3d application decide" cause it would be easier to test. I tried fps capping using riva tuner to 144 (with the in game cap also set to 144) with front edge sync enabled and it did make the frame times more stable BUT the double images/crosstalk still persist and it makes no sense that capping the game to a lower refresh rate that the max hz of the monitor would lead to more crosstalk/double imaging than if you were to try to run at max refresh with somewhat inconsistent fps. Monitor OSD shows a solid 144 graph with both caps (a little more jittery with the in game cap but it should still show clear). I did a full GPU driver wipe with DDU 1 day ago so this isn't an old driver problem where there might be corruption in shader cache.

Hm... doesnt sound like a pulsar issue to me, more like a "with pulsar more noticable" thing.
How do these two scenarios look compared to each other if you switch pulsar off? Or on a different monitor?

i feel like i have been scammed, i just got the asus version, its not much difference vs old pg27aqn, (its like i bought the same monitor again lol) but, the 60hz ulmb2 mode is absolutely insane, the flicker is insane too lol

Brother, your comments change with the wind. One week there's a monitor that you think is the next coming of Christ, the next that same monitor is a disgrace to even exist.

I think we'd all feel a lot more confident in your comments if you owned half the monitors you spoke about. Proof is in the pudding!

Guess you haven't read anything I've written or don't know how easy it is to extrapolate strobing behaviors based on data.

Try it yourself if you have the monitor. I JUST tried it again after a cold shutdown and the issue is still there. Turning off pulsar and moving the camera around looks smooth but blurry with Vsync off and fps cap set to 144. When I enable pulsar it clears up the image a lot BUT there's a faint double image that doesn't show up if you enable vsync (which locks the game to try to work at 360 fps but pulsar works with gsync below that for the higher fps range). I tried in game FPS cap, RTSS front edge sync cap only, async cap only, both caps and nothing really gets rid of the faint double image. This is a unity engine game, not sure if that would have anything to do with it but I would find it really funny if nvidia would have to add pulsar flags with game ready drivers on a per game basis to fix pulsar per game. It COULD be the game itself but this might give a clue for some folks playing less popular games not seeing the clarity benefits of pulsar. I'll probably start making a spreadsheet were I list which combination of syncs, fps caps with my hardware gets clean motion across.

Do you know which is the earliest NVidia driver required for compatibility with the 1.1.6 Pulsar firmware update?
