NVIDIA G-Sync Pulsar monitor - Asus ROG Strix XG27AQNGV

Ask about motion blur reduction in gaming monitors. Includes ULMB (Ultra Low Motion Blur), NVIDIA LightBoost, ASUS ELMB, BenQ/Zowie DyAc, ToastyX, black frame insertion (BFI), and now framerate-based motion blur reduction (framegen / LSS / etc).

Fist of some details:
Im on latest Firmware
Im on a 5070ti and 9800x3d and playing mostly cs2 with over 360fps.
Is there something i should consider for fps?, capped at 360 or uncapped, PULSAR or ULMB2

Thank you
With this hardware I would first try vsync on + gsync on + reflex on + boost. Using pulsar, of course.
Then use nvidia frameview to check your fps (especially your 1% lows).

Your average fps should then be around 327 fps. I hope your 1% lows will also be around 290. If they drop down below 200 fps, turn vsync off and cap your fps manually. But not ingame (via fps_max) and also not via nvidia control panel. Both wont work well with pulsar.

Use RTSS for capping the frames (I would do this at around 340 fps). Keep in mind, this needs the steam startup command "-allow_third_party_software" in CS2. Dont worry, this is allowed. No problem with VAC, not even with faceit AC.

If everything works well, you should have a butter smooth and clear picture. If you have the feeling it looks odd, shaky or stuttery there is indeed something not working well. It took me a while to figure all this out. My reference was always on Inferno... i was side strafing the menu sign on the restaurant at T spawn. You should always be able to read the menu, easily.

Never mind it did work, it was 8k polling mouse in games causing huge fps drops xD, but I don't know it just didn't look all that clear, I think this monitor needs sharpness slider despite being 1440p

Anyone with a 50 series gpu, does this monitor allow custom refresh rates and resolutions without tweaking?

60hz ulmb2 at 10, is crazy, it blows anything away, but it's still too dim and it's too choppy for any fps game
I think the same, this pulsar monitors all needs the sharpness slider, it's not that hard to implement this.

And need some changes for borderless mode games that don't work with pulsar. I like the borderless, but in some cases, pulsar only work in exclusive fullscreen ( like in PUBG )
We were not able to reproduce this. Can you fill out the G-SYNC Pulsar feedback form and includes any particular steps to reproduce this? Do you have any overlay software running while playing PUBG? Can you list which settings you have changed in the NVIDIA Control Panel/NVIDIA App from the default settings?

Ok tnx for the feedback, i forgot to write im on old driver from january 591.74 still, need to update probably.
I never played with v-sync, do you turn it on in game or only in NVCP

Only NVCP. As long as you have reflex running, vsync is fine in terms of latency. This combination can lead to bad 1% low fps. As mentioned before, then you turn if off and cap your fps with RTSS.

I am confident your system can handle it properly.

Hello, today im reproduce this again and create a video that demonstrates how the pulse stop working in borderless mode in pubg, uploading a video on youtube, made a screenshot with all my NVCP and NVAPP settings, and im export a file from Nvidia Profile Inspector Revamp with all my settings from my pubg, so u can clearly and fastly set this settings to the game using the nvidia profile inspector revamp ( here's the url on google disc for download https://drive.google.com/file/d/1nh5Kt7 ... drive_link ). Im using the MSI mpg 272qrf x36 monitor with the latest 1.1.6 FW ( on older versions of FW this pulse stop working the same way).
Im trying earlier with gsync only fullscreen and gsync fullscreen and windowed mode and nothing changes. Afterall ill try to fill your form for more information. Thx for advance this problem, annoying that u cant fast alttab from game cause u need to play in exclusive fullscreen mode.

All the steps to reproduce this problem u can find in the video below from youtube.
P.s. fill your form already for more OS and BUILD info.
P.P.s. Im only using steam overlay ingame for FPS and CPU/GPU info and my MPO (Multi-Plane Overlay) is off, HAGS on , Game mode ON, Xbox game bar OFF ( even off win + G overlay )
P.P.P.s. And i think now that is the problem with GSYNC that stops working in borderless mode and after this, pulsars stop working, heres the problem with Gsync itself

Man that sucks! For shits and giggles, do you happen to own lossless scaling? You can buy it on steam for $7 at the time of writing, then make a profile for pubg and make sure Frame gen is "off", Scaling type is set to "off", Sync mode is set to "Vsync", G-Sync support toggled "on" and Capture API set to WGC (currently working for me on latest windows 11). This usually forces Gsync for me on games that don't play nice with borderless windowed mode. Some games have an issue where MPO puts the game in layer 0 which craps out Gsync in borderless mode (I had this issue when I played farlight 84 and it turned out it didn't like 3 monitors but it worked if I turned one off! what a weird bug!).

Y i know that this situation is suck, im use the loseless scaling with all my video, im push fps to the 360hz and like the perfect motion of the videos, but ingame im dont use it cause it gives a latency with frame gen, without frame gen im never use it and i have now 342fps and 342 fps 1% ( rarely comes to 250-300) , so i dont need it, but now im remember that my system now working without MPO, mpo badly impact on my system, sometimes rise the cpu and gpu clocks for no reason and fries my system, so i turn it OFF

P.s. WoW, something strange happens when i try this method and use loseless scaling only for gsync, im turn on Gsync indicator in NVAPP and when im turn borderless mode on, my gsync just turns OFF, if im using the loseless scaling without framegen and without scaling, only WGC mode, Vsync ( or tearing ) and gsync support, my borderless mode starts using Gsync and indicator turns green and pulsar start working like intended, but only in high fps, if i turn it on 85 locked fps gsync works for minute or two and turns off, just idk, strange gsync implementation, funny

P.P.s. Nah, Gsync working only 15sec to 1 min and turns off again in borderless mode, lol, not a good solution

Ive been experiencing noticeable temporary image retention using Pulsar with the new firmware, usually from static white text and icons. This was not an issue on previous firmware so I’m wondering if anyone else had the same problem.

I can probably second this on the Asus Pulsar with the 1.1.6 MCM102 firmware.

I also noticed some weird temporary horizontal lines on the screen that eventually faded away, which I just assumed was a bit normal for a display to have some sort of temporary retention when an image is displayed for extended long time periods but I mean like half an hour time of periods, but this looks very quickly reproducible and if you say it I can definitely believe it to be a regression.

The easiest and quickest way to reproduce this weirdness for me was running the following test for like 20-30 seconds in fullscreen:

https://testufo.com/ghosting

Then run this test directly after in fullscreen:

https://testufo.com/framerates-versus

Especially it was noticeable on the blue-greyish surfaces on the framerate versus game motion test where the horizontal bars were located on the previous test making it look really jarring, but it was hard to capture it on camera, until...

If you run the ghosting test for 1 minute or longer, the horizontal bars stay on screen for a long period of time before fading away, even visible on the desktop background or anything you have opened.

Seems to be reproducible both with Pulsar ON and OFF though I had Pulsar ON.

If you turned off MPO then I expect that some borderless fullscreen implementations will stop working (some devs explicitly developed with MPO in mind). Either way, sucks that Gsync only works for a minute using lossless, I don't play pubg so I wouldn't know what to tell you but I might download and try if I can reproduce the issue myself later this week.

Note: I have had issues like this in the past and I did a DDU (display driver uninstaller) full wipe and only edited the control panel options using nvidia control panel or nvidia app, the moment I use something like nvidia inspector (or third party forks of it) I had random issues that would crop up like gsync not working in borderless windowed so I think it might be worth doing a full DDU wipe, re-install the latest nvidia driver and then trying pubg again but that's just my 2 cents from my experience.
