XL2546K gets even brighter with strobe utility. normal?
My Zowie XL2546K gets even brighter with Blur Busters strobe utility.
It is like this :
100% monitor brightness without Dyac+ → 350nit
100% monitor brightness with Dyac+ → 350nit
Max out brightness with strobe utility → 400nit
I can get even bright screen than default 100% brightness!
Good to have this, but I wonder why...

Re: XL2546K gets even brighter with strobe utility. normal?
By default, XL2546K uses a rather severely voltage-boosted strobe backlight (overvoltage trick).
While this was not the intended purpose of Strobe Utility, so some pulse widths may create a slightly-brighter-than-factory strobe backlight mode on some models (e.g. XL2720Z version 2 firmwares had this 'bug' during VT1350);
Please bear in mind that longer pulse widths create more motion blur, so 400 nits may have more motion blur.
Be noted that voltage boosting can sometimes result in accelerated wear-and-tear on the LEDs. That being said, the difference between 350 and 400 is relatively minor. Ambient temperatures can affect this (summer and the lack of air conditioning) can mean 350 nits in a hot room will probably wear the XL2546K faster than 400 nits in a cold room.

Thanks for your reply.
I am glad I can use my XL2546K even brighter than factory setting with Blur Buster strobe utility, even if it is bug.
Also, I couldn't notice any motion blur difference between these two:
100% monitor brightness with Dyac+ → 350nit
Max out brightness with strobe utility → 400nit
Bright screen + 1ms motion clarity is so satisfying to see.
I'm kind of sad that there is no display except Zowie Dyac+ which have both "over 300 nit" and "BFI".
I want more resolution option like 4K but Zowie is not into it as you know...

Re: XL2546K gets even brighter with strobe utility. normal?
It's normal. Though the brightness gets reset after powering the monitor off, so you need to re-apply the saved profile every time.
BenQ XL2546K @ 240Hz (DyAC+) • ROCCAT Kone Pro Air @ 1000Hz • HyperX Alloy Origins • CORSAIR MM350 PRO Premium • HyperX Cloud Revolver • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 @ 2130MHz/8000MHz • Intel Core i7-8700K @ 4.8GHz • G.SKILL RipjawsV 16GB (2x8GB) 3000MHz CL15

On my monitor XL2546K DI Q250HTN00 A600 (The matrix is from 2022, the monitor itself is from 2023)
Utility - ControlMyMonitor v1.42
I can increase the brightness above the factory setting, but I don’t want to increase it too much. I only reached 200 to take a photo to confirm this. If I constantly use the monitor at this value, it could affect the lifespan of the matrix, right?

You can use 255 for no dyac and I think 130 or 135 for dyac with that toolkeybl wrote: ↑07 Jul 2026, 07:20On my monitor XL2546K DI Q250HTN00 A600 (The matrix is from 2022, the monitor itself is from 2023)

Yes, I did check the maximum possible brightness and it was 255, but there are pressing questions as to why the monitor is so stifled in this parameter.MSIfanboy wrote: ↑11 Jul 2026, 04:55You can use 255 for no dyac and I think 130 or 135 for dyac with that toolkeybl wrote: ↑07 Jul 2026, 07:20On my monitor XL2546K DI Q250HTN00 A600 (The matrix is from 2022, the monitor itself is from 2023)

Re: XL2546K gets even brighter with strobe utility. normal?
Before this, I had a 2020 XL2546 monitor with an XL2546 BMSQ250HTN00.A000 matrix.
Now I have an XL2546K with a 2023 XL2546K DI Q250HTN00 A600 matrix.
On my old XL2546, I noticed issues with a gridded image (as if, when something moved on the monitor, a grid of pixels would appear on the moving object itself (for example, a CS player model). I don't know how to describe it; it was hard to notice, but it was a real problem). I can't comment on color rendition; I don't have a colorimeter or other colorimeter, but to my eye, I'd say this: colors on the XL2546 look bright and saturated, blacks aren't as deep as on the XL2546K.
The XL2546K is the monitor I'm currently using. I like the picture. I use the Standard profile, but I don't like RGB profiles (normal, cool, warm). I use R90-91 G96 B96. I find this results in a lower white point offset and natural-looking whites (but again, everyone has different preferences, in my opinion).
From this post, I saw information that you can increase the monitor's brightness to 255 nits through ControlMyMonitor (I don't know how many nits that is, but the monitor is very bright). Without DYAC, I use 150, and with DYAC, I use 100, since increasing brightness with DYAC leads to more flickering.
I also don't know the reasons for the reduced brightness from the factory.
Below I have provided a short guide on how to access ServicePage and ServiceMenu on both monitor models.
Now some information about DisplayScaling
If I used real resolution scaling on the XL2546, 1280x960 in game - 1280x960 on monitor (CustomResolution by using CRU) in the Nvidia App - Display - no scaling, on monitor Scaling - Full - I got a sharper picture, than scaling 1280x960 to the native resolution of 1920x1080 - gpu scaling / Also, the results for Dyac are better since we have a reserve of total pixels.
On the XL2546K the situation is a little different, when I use real scaling (1280x960 in the game, 1280x960 on the monitor) I get a less clear picture than GPU scaling, I may not have fully grasped this topic, but I noticed that there's a default 1280x1024 profile that overstates the total vertical pixels, not the horizontal ones, as the manual suggests for better results with DYAC. So I simply took that profile, changed it from 1024 to 960, and started testing. I also tested increasing the total vertical pixel count for Dyac at a resolution of 1920x1080 (to have GPU scaling, but the results are better for Dyac), and in fact, so far nothing has come of each result, some better, some worse / I would be grateful if the community could provide any guides on this monitor and how to fine-tune it DYAC.
