I have the exact same issue across every FPS I play. I actually ended up quitting FPS games altogether because of it. Then, about two months ago, my PC suddenly started behaving the way it should. It lasted for about a week, and I genuinely couldn't stop playing. You can feel the difference immediately—the moment you move your mouse on the desktop, everything just feels responsive and effortless.

Right now it's the complete opposite. It's gotten so bad that even getting a kill strains my thumb because I'm constantly fighting whatever this satanic issue is instead of relying on muscle memory.

Have you ever had a period where everything just works for a few days, only for the problem to come back?
Yes, I also have partially given up on playing any competitive game after realizing it existed across all games that i played. ive never had my pc "work" for more than a week however. i once spent a whole month changing settings everyday and couldn't get it to work. ive had many times where im unable to get it to work for long periods of times and will have self doubts just to eventually get it to work and completely eliminate any self doubt i have about my capabilities. as games like apex legends on controller are extremely easy when the game is working so if you are playing even slightly worse, something is wrong. for me its not just slight though, its a ridiculously drastic difference. i use to just hop on everyday and hope my game would work. i felt like it worked more frequently but many times didn't. i eventually figured out that i can change settings to get it to work. now it feels like it almost never works unless i change settings and even then, changing settings can rarely help either. also yes, if Ive ever gotten it to work. it will go back to not working the next day.
I know exactly what you mean. The week my PC worked normally, I was shooting so straight you could've convinced me someone had secretly installed a recoil hack. On top of that, enemies seemed to move so much slower compared to how they move when the issue is present.

That week honestly made me question what it even means to be a good player. It might sound dumb, but I'm convinced a lot of those insane ranked players are able to consistently improve because their game feels the same every single day. Their baseline never changes, so they can build muscle memory and pick up right where they left off. When your input and aim feel different every time you play, it feels like you're relearning the game from scratch over and over again.
I agree, ive been quite upset due to the issue because ive felt that the moment id have it fixed. i would idk, try to become something. try to get into comp or something, try to grind ranked. id have the confidence to go into servers and meet other players who are also good and maybe stream. ive felt that the only reason pros or good players in general are able to play the way they are everyday compared to me who can play at a pretty similar level mechanically but only once in a blue moon was because i had this issue and they didnt. And ive stopped playing any competitive game because I was only playing to improve. At first i swapped to another controller game from apex, i eventually thought "maybe the aim assist is just too strong on apex so thats why im not as good. then i swapped to mnk because there isnt aim assist. i put over 5000 hours into games like siege and hunt showdown on mnk. when i felt that i was 100% sure of my sensitivity across all games, that being 28cm/360 i eventually came to the same conclusion i had when i originally swapped and felt that there was no reason to play because as long as i have this issue, i cant improve and thats all i was playing for. The same issue that effected me on apex effected me on every game. Also, i dont exactly know or am 100% sure that its input lag/delay because for example. apex season 28 introduced input lag to all controller players at the start of the season. it felt like i had both the input lag and the issue at the same time. also when i do certain things for example, i put both my gpu and but usb hub on the same cpu core. or yk just basic stuff like turning off all overlays or background task. i felt like it felt better but it didnt matter because i still had the issue.
Right? This issue is so bizarre and specific that it genuinely makes me feel like I'm trapped in some deranged social experiment where the powers that be crafted the perfect way to keep me from enjoying FPS games. 😂 The fact that it's just as bad on both controller and mouse and keyboard has me completely defeated.

To make matters worse, I can't even pretend to enjoy single-player games, so I'm basically stuck refreshing this forum, hoping someone eventually stumbles across a real fix.

I've even considered moving to another country because I'm so desperate to figure it out. The only thing stopping me is there's no guarantee it would change anything.

I'm also more than willing to accept that it's all in my head and that I'm just bad. But then how do I explain that random week when everything suddenly felt effortless? It happened out of nowhere, and just as suddenly, it disappeared. That's the part I can never make sense of.

ya, ive had doubts like especially because my brother plays fortnite and hes like a very good controller player. like hes in a clan, #1 unreal, playing tournaments, like i think he just got top 12 or something in one that just happened. and of course i think he has the issue but hes still doing good. ive had my theories that it might not be as bad on fortnite because like bloom and you needing to lead your shots or something. ive also had it not be as bad on some games but it was just never as good as like apex when it was working. like i played xdefiant and was top 100 wins, top 60 kills, top 10 tdm wins overall and ruby with the issue and i know its easier to deal with when you dont think you have the issue. and when i was talking to him he had me doubt myself but i was able to get my game to work which is when i made that video recently like 8 days ago and I had him play and he would literally say "wow, this isnt what apex feels like on my pc" and he was trying to watch other pro players that he thought was better or doing things he couldnt do. like a couple times he thought this one guy was better because of ping but was able to see him on like 200 ping and perform the same. But ik it was so drastically different when i was able to get it to work and i know thats what the game is suppose to feel like normally and thats what it does feel like for other players or pros. I also know its why my brother only plays one game because he thinks hes terrible at everyth other game because of the issue vs me like i know thats not the case. i know that if you are good in one game, you can play on that same level in any game. if your game is working that is. and like he thinks apex has a ton of recoil but to me, when the game is working it feels like the game is aiming for you and theres no recoil at all but when its not working it feels like there no aim assist basically. It might be easier on my mind if i couldn't ever be able to fix it but the problem is that ive played good before. so even i couldn't ever get it to work again, i would just remember how i could play before and still think something is wrong regardless of if i was able to get it "work" again or not. I personally just think about moving to texas or something because i know theres no pros where im from but theres pros in texas, mostly because of ping but i assume that if they're doing good there than maybe i can too.

I've wondered if maybe most players actually have this issue, but you only realize how exhausting it is after experiencing one of those rare periods where everything feels normal. It's kind of like taking cold showers your entire life, then suddenly getting to take warm showers for a week. You finally realize how comfortable showering can actually be, and after that it's almost impossible to go back without noticing the difference.

At the same time, I struggle to believe that's the case. It's hard to imagine every top player just happened to win some kind of lottery where their game always feels consistent, no matter where they play. Then you have the pros who travel to LANs, sit down at a completely different setup, and are performing almost immediately. That makes it even harder to figure out what's going on.

Best of luck if you do decide to move. At this point, I would unironically turn down millions if it meant my games would feel normal forever. 😂

well my main two ideas are to actually just go on a trip to texas and rent a 240hz pc at a gaming cafe just like i did here or to maybe spend two weeks at my grandmas and take my pc with me somehow. because both those two things are less work and cheaper than moving. and I do believe that theres no way any pro would be able to for one, play on my pc. id love to see an apex pro try and do as good on my pc, id bet the imaginary money i dont have on it. I also believe that the only reason they are able to play consistently everyday is because they dont have the issue and i won the reverse lottery. I use to think that that could be why a lot of players are bad but i do also just think that a lot of people dont put in the time and effort or know anything. like the benefits of 240hz or response time. like dudes dont even know about 8000hz overclocking on controller to this day. and ive watched a lot of players that are aiming you know not better than me when my games working but better than i do MOST of the days when its not working and yet they just play so much worse, put so much less hours into the game, they have poor movement. there aim isnt even that good, its just that there games are working and the aim assist is sticky. thats literally just it. Also i do think pro players get it. like ive watched canadian in rainbow six siege aim worse than he ever had before on lan compared to online, play completely normal when he came back home and get clowned for playing as bad as he did at lan. but also just most "pros" or atleast ranked grinder that have issues like hiswattson or shivfps or rogue, theyve all had issues, specifically hiswattson looked like he had the issue when he tried playing controller but they just got bread so they instantly get a new pc and fix the issue 90% of the time. I do have a theory though that on lan is different than playing in the area because they are directly connected to the server or something. so even if the area is not working, maybe it works on lan. Ill have to wait and see since i think my area is cooked and next algs ewc is in my area.
