I have a question regarding the data showcased in this video about the latency of in-game and rtss framerate limiting
where "in-game" has lower latency than "rtss"
however as I've read on this forum rtss is great for flat-lining the latency for more consistency and this is my most prefferable way to go about it

Does this remain true under these vrr+vsync on circumstances ? or is there reason to belief that these settings by themselves can flat-line frametimes because of all this "syncing stuff", honestly this might be very obscure knowledge but maybe someone knows :cry:

Dude, that's G-sync. No measured data proving that the settings work the same on freesync.

On a side note there seems to be no actual testing on free sync settings for some reason (Even technical youtubers avoid it). I check this thread every now and then in hopes that I will be able to switch to team red but nobody ever posts real tested settings :(

What exactly would you like to see?
When discussing variable refresh rate (display synced to GPU), one of the biggest downsides of AMD GPUs is that there's no way to invoke some kind of automatic frame rate limiter solution, akin to what the recommended VRR+VSYNC+Reflex or VRR+VSYNC+ULLM setup does on Nvidia side.

AMD"s Chill & Frame Rate Target Control (FRTC) operate in the following manner:
100fps cap

Of course, keep in mind that PCLatency (FrameView metric in question) is a sum of the average input-to-frame-start (I2FS) latency & 2 more intervals, which may affect the graphs above (as in, the spread and shape of the data, as it's being "dampened" due to the averaging; it's not instantaneous)

For the best possible FreeSync (VRR) setup on AMD, your options are limited to:
Freesync + VSYNC (in-game or Adrenaline toggle) + AL2/AL1 enabled (to keep render-ahead queue empty in GPU limited games)
& using the internal game limiter.
RTSS as a external frame limiter solution will lead to a latency penalty of 1-2 frames, depending on the setting chosen.
Special-K as a external frame limiter solution gives you a lot of room to play around with. I don't know the exact penalty of every possible setting & it's compatibility with AMD GPUs.

I would start with Nvidia's autocap values as maximum (don't go above them)
For example:
138–139 FPS @ 144 Hz
159 FPS @ 165 Hz
224–225 FPS @ 240 Hz
324–327 FPS @ 360 Hz
~351 FPS @ 390 Hz
~438 FPS @ 500 Hz
469 FPS @ 540 Hz
755 FPS @ 1000 Hz
etc.

However, if you want to battle/eliminate tearing while sticking to the fixed refresh rate path, there's a set of viable solution, which consists of the following technologies:
- Using AMD Enhanced Sync (which is the equivalent of Nvidia FastSync)
- Using RTSS Scanline-Sync (fine with kernel AC games)
- SK' Latent-Sync (YMMV with kernel AC games; gray area)
Namely, RTSS/SK, you'd adjust your refresh rate to a value you can maintain consistently in X game
You'd use one of the frame rate limiters discussed (RTSS Scanline-Sync or SK Latent-Sync) and run FPS=Hz
With AMD Enhanced Sync, you need to run a frame rate 2x above your refresh rate.
This way, you battle/eliminate tearing in a fixed refresh rate scenario, which would be a ideal use-case for OLEDs.
The biggest benefit of this approach is that you also have the ability to use backlight strobing with this approach.
(Some users like to refer to RTSS Scanline-Sync & SK Latent-Sync as "lagless VSYNC", as you're keeping the tearing-line relatively fixed)

Tell me, what's the point of turning on V-Sync in a game when you've already capped the FPS with RTSS?
The purpose of V-Sync is to prevent FPS from going over the screen's limit, but here, with the limit already set, what's the use of V-Sync, especially when you have a FreeSync monitor.
I don't get it.

I don't get it.
If you don't see tearing, then you don't need to enable it. Whether or not VRR can tear depends on frame pacing. If you use a very accurate limiter, you shouldn't see any tearing.

Alright, just to be safe, might as well turn it on. I use RTSS to limit my max frequency, I have a 175hz screen, so I capped it at 172. After that, I can go case by case for vsync, depending on the game, I turn it on or not.
