network switch fix for desync?

has anybody tried utilizing a network switch? these new router/modem combos are pretty bad, and i think most people if they do buy a wired router they dont buy a switch cause its unnecessary for a single pc sweaty gamer.

i'm ordering one tomorrow as a switch made my wifi very stable, but i need another one for my pc. wondering if anybody has talked about this yet
