Controller input lag

Post by gordangadness » 09 Sep 2026, 16:08

Hello.
I'm running my computer CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, GPU: Nvidea Geforce RTX 5070, Mobo: Tuf Gaming B650E-E wifi

I've been having issues with input delay/general funkiness on my gaming controllers. (Various GameSirs and an Xbox one controller).

It happens across many different first person shooters but it is most noticeable on my favorite game Halo MCC. The issue is basically that the reticle seems to lag behind when I press the joystick. Also on Halo MCC the controller just randomly has different levels of look acceleration, deadzones, sensitivity. Not by any sort of metric, just by feel, those things feel like they are changing constantly. This all started when I switched from windows Pro to Windows Home, but I've since switched back. Idk what to do. I've tried like 20 different things and nothing is working. I've tried a fresh windows install, disabling Gameinput, disabling selective suspend, rolling back the gamesir software, disabling windowed optimizations, changing frame rates. Any advice on how to identify this problem would be immensely appreciated. What instrumentation would distinguish controller/input-stack latency from game-loop/render/presentation latency when raw XInput delivery appears normal?

Thanks
