To support 120Hz the most easily, you need to use DVI or DisplayPort.
Sometimes 120Hz works over HDMI on some models of 120Hz monitors, but this is officially unsupported.

Probably not, since the firmware is in beta test, probably about to begin to be flashed on shipping monitors in the near future.

i've got a question about the Z series
if we by some extent overclock this monitor to, say at least 200hz, can the strobe keep the track ?
i heard it has a very flexible strobing so thats why i'm asking this.
also if the answer is yes, it could saves bright loss since blank screen intervals will be shorter !

The monitor doesn't overclock past 144Hz. No current 144Hz monitor is able to overclock by a few Hz beyond at this time, without special modifications (e.g. cirthix's)

Not necessarily, because it scales proportionally. To maintain the same amount of motion blur reduction, you need to keep strobe lengths proportionally, such as 25% of the time bright, and 75% of the time dark. Higher Hz means shorter strobes and shorter dark periods, to maintain the same motion blur reduction.

You can lengthen the strobing to brighten the image, but then it starts really eating into the pixel transition cycles (making formerly-hidden pixel transitions visible), which is much harder at higher refresh rates than at lower refresh rates.

Too bad it is hardware locked, i guess it's made by manufacturers to keep a long life monitor right ?
is the motion blur reduction as good as the lightboost one ? ( execpted from the know bug which it has to be fixed )

Is there any other configuration to do with the blur reduction since I only noticed on and off from the OSD.

Regarding ICC, i'm currently using the xl2420t taken from TFTCentral. Is it recommended to use this profile? Should I take the one found on the Benq CD?

I have been waiting on the XL2720Z for a while now but I am confused with the announcement of the XL2720G

Are they basically the same thing with a different piece of hardware for the strobing effect or what?

If the BenQ XL2420G and XL2720G have G-Sync and don't lose their own motion blur reduction technique, they will be the best option, because they would have:

- G-Sync.
- Motion blur reduction in OSD menu, with the ability to choose the strobe length, and working between 75 and 144Hz. In my opinion, better than Nvidia's ULMB, because BenQ gives more options.

If they lose their own motion blur reduction, and instead only have ULMB.... the winner won't be so clear. I'd have to choose between:

- G-Sync+ULMB (not at the same time, of course) -> XL2420G, XL2720G, VG248QE, PG287Q (this one with more resolution, and more expensive).
- A more tweakable blur-free experience, but without the G-Sync option -> XL2420Z, XL2720Z.

I was about to ask you about that and I was hoping you'd say it was confirmed they would have both. :/

If they drop their motion reduction, then they're not really interesting. I'm better off waiting for the Asus ones in that case. (They'll probably be a bit cheaper and If I remember correctly the Asus gaming monitors have slightly less imput lag than the Benq's)
