NVIDIA G-Sync Pulsar monitor - Asus ROG Strix XG27AQNGV

Ask about motion blur reduction in gaming monitors. Includes ULMB (Ultra Low Motion Blur), NVIDIA LightBoost, ASUS ELMB, BenQ/Zowie DyAc, ToastyX, black frame insertion (BFI), and now framerate-based motion blur reduction (framegen / LSS / etc).

DrG-Sync is back on nv forum - (maybe was on vacation?)

He edited the post once more, stating the two promised fixes for 320 fps bug and black screens will be added via hotfix, quote:

"We are preparing a hotfix driver for the two below bugs. That driver will be posted here when ready. It will - for now - not be in main NVIDIA driver until we can do more extensive QA. ETA a few days from today (10/7).

'two second black screen with RTX30/40 cards at 360 Hz'. Targeted fixed in new 61x.xx driver, ETA now 10/6 (we missed the cutoff to make the 9/22 posting). NOTE: There is a workaround. Set Manage 3D Settings --> Power Management Mode to Prefer Maximum Performance . You do need to reboot after setting that for it to take effect.
the 'stuck at 320 FPS with increased latency' has been root caused and we are trying to get the fix integrated in new 61x.xx driver, ETA now 10/6 (we missed 9/22). NOTE: some folks report a workaround, having a second monitor connected prevents it."

I have a question for this mon owners. Can i make custom res which will be around 24.5 physical inches like 2368×1332 (so itll activate only those pixels and black bars around) and use it at (the higher the better) 440+ hz with pulsaw working?
I highly doubt it, going up in Hz would require pulsar to have some sort of value for duty cycle at higher than 360 hz (unless it gets stuck at 360 hz strobing which would cause massive crosstalk) not to mention you might also get frame skipping and we already have established the pixel response times of this monitor aren't good enough for 360 hz, 440 hz wouldn't fair better imo.
ggs. im searching for monitor that will can do 24-25 inches mode or screen with res higher than fhd and 440 or higher fps with bfi/bls at max hz and not tn!
Nothing really exists for that right now. The Zowie 25" 1440p monitors are 360hz with Dyac3 - so you won't be getting 440+ that you want.

The 500/540hz OLEDs do support a cropped 25" mode but you're either limited to 'native' 500/540hz or using BFI at a 250/270hz refresh rate.

It's a bit of a niche request that you're after, you'll likely have to compromise on one element if you want something now.

I think more people should post on the nvidia forum post asking for pulsar ultra and extreme modes to be a last hail marry. Am I happy with the monitor as is firmware wise? Yes but I'd love to see at least 1 more pulsar "Extreme" mode where it's half the duty cycle across the board for 1/2 the max brightness (I currently think it gets too bright without adaptive brightness enabled so I know the headroom is DEF there). I'd even take a 3/4 of current max brightness in exchange for a lower duty cycle!
Ultimately I just like options. Even if those options aren't always my most common choice. This monitor so far has been about providing a lot of options, and having an extreme mode would absolutely hit a ton of use cases for me and others.
My only gripe with Pulsar so far.Too bright man.
I actually find the motion quality, to me at least, best at high brightness, i just spent an afternoon at 10% pulse width which is about 50 nits, and then 20%. And while the motion was fine, i wasnt really tracking details in the same way i do at higher brightness. To my my eyes the enjoyment of high clarity was better at high brightness pulsar than ulmb 2 mode. Even if it it's technically less clear judging my stats.

That being sid, 500 nits is high. I can still track details at 350. 200. Etc. Although i would argue 500 nits is different looking than 500 without the rolling scan on. It's a bit more blaring on a traditional monitor, like because of the lack of pulse your eyes hang onto the bright static image and there's more glare.

yeah its rly sad. my secret chinese oem 540hz fhd 24" ips with bfi at 540hz monitor is broken its as if its getting tired after few hours of work and turns black with backlight on so the pixels are actively emitting black light kinda and i osd not working ofc i turn it off and on then it works for few seconds then again same. i changed adapter same thing so some internal problem but i cant fix it myself and ppl who can fix it r not in my town.
they will send me new one but its taking too long so idk.. im searching now for full hd 23-25 inches 440hz+ monitor with bfi/bls at max hz and ips panel. does it exist?

im new here can u help like where i can post about this in what category of this forum

and also (but first full hd is more important for my fps kinda rn) looking for qhd (as small as possible) with 390hz or higher with bfi/bls at max hz with ips panel.

(i know there is lg 1khz monitor but its hard to buy and my 4070 ti super doesnt support 1000hz coz its more than 1350mhz on single head and its kinda expensive, ill buy it but in future when upgrading pc, not now)

My xg27aqngv feels cheaply built by comparison, it's just not satisfying to use, the joystick that you use quite often especially when changing pulsar on/off in particular just feels wobbly.
Agreed. I much prefer using the NVIDIA App to toggle Pulsar and other settings rather than fiddling with the joystick.

Nvidia has posted a hotfix driver for pulsar monitors that's supposed to fix the 320fps bug.

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/fo ... changelog/

hotfix driver

We now have a hotfix driver for the two below bugs. These fixes will - for now - not be in main NVIDIA driver until we can do more extensive QA.

QHD monitor running at 360 Hz may have occasional black flash during gameplay [4846825]
When gaming on a 360Hz G-SYNC Pulsar monitor, FPS may drop to 320FPS [6408986]

NOTE: The hotfix driver fixes some, but not all cases of the black screen issue. We are working on finding a driver solution for the remaining cases. If you still encounter this, please use the workaround: Set Manage 3D Settings --> Power Management Mode to Prefer Maximum Performance . You do need to reboot after setting that for it to take effect.
For those trying this new driver please report back if this solved the problem. hotfix drivers have caused anti-cheat problems in the past for some games so I will be waiting until the fixes are in a stable driver. Player support for most games today are AI (artificial intelligence or actually Indian) so if this driver gets flagged it's nearly impossible to talk to a human to recover your account.
