Hi, long-time lurker here.
I've been dealing with mouse input lag for a long time. My mouse never felt truly smooth, no matter what I tried. I went through countless UEFI/BIOS settings, disabled hardware components, reinstalled Windows multiple times, tried ReviOS, tested pretty much every tweak I could find online, and even bought two different USB PCIe cards.
Every time, I thought I had fixed the issue, but the improvement was always temporary.
Turns out, the problem was my Corsair HS80 headset. It didn't matter whether I connected it directly via USB or used the wireless receiver. I only figured this out recently, so I bought a new headset with a 3.5mm AUX jack instead of USB, and the input lag is finally gone for good.
That horrible, sluggish, mushy mouse feeling is finally gone. I honestly never would have thought that my headset could be causing this.
Hopefully, this helps someone else who's been struggling with the same issue.

This subforum is for advanced users only. This separate area is for niche or unexpected lag issues such as electromagnetic interference (EMI, EMF, electrical, radiofrequency, etc). Interference of all kinds (wired, wireless, external, internal, environment, bad component) can cause error-correction (ECC) latencies like a bad modem connection, except internally in a circuit. ECC = retransmits = lag. Troubleshooting may require university degree. Your lag issue is likely not EMI.

Re: my inputlag is gone
It might have created a DPC or an interrupt that caused the mouse data to be delayed, I don't know:) But basically, it's best to use a jack, yes otherwise, this is not a general solution.

Re: my inputlag is gone
How cannot you people immediately distinguish if your mouse problems are caused by actual peripheral input problems, or by frametime choppiness and error correction caused by CPU / GPU ?? It is so obviously different, and no this won't help for 99% of people here, because they have the second problem and not a freaking broken mouse or headset.

Re: my inputlag is gone
I tested it yesterday and today. I unplugged my USB headset from my PC and connected Apple’s 3.5mm jack earbuds instead. Here are my thoughts:
Mouse heaviness issue: It helps, but it does not fix the problem.
Hit registration (hitreg) issue: It helps, but it does not fix it. Unlike the mouse heaviness issue, the improvement is not very noticeable.
Desync issue: No change.
High FPS / Smoothness issue: No change.
If your only problem is mouse heaviness, it might be worth giving it a try. However, if you're experiencing severe input lag caused by electrical issues like I am, there's no need to buy a 3.5mm jack headset because it doesn't solve the problem. I'll continue testing for the next few days and share if anything changes.

Re: my inputlag is gone
I’ve been dealing with a disconnected feeling in my mouse and this has helped substantially with the other tweaks I’ve done. Thank you for the tip!
