Zowie xl2411k or Dell s2417dg

Post by SirPeca » 27 Oct 2026, 05:31

So I can’t decide which monitor should be my main ( i don’t need 2).

My pc

Ryzen 5 7600x

Amd rx 6800

32 gb ddr5

I play mainly cs2 and pubg.

Which one has better motion clarity and response time?

Zowie is full had and Dell 1440p monitor. Both have TN panels.

Which one would you choose?

Are you purchasing these panels or do you currently own these 2 models only?
If the latter is the case: To me, the answer is obvious – the S2417DG.
If the former is the case:
For CS2 in particular, I find both models to be subpar due to the fact they have too low of a refresh rate for competitive games nowadays.
For PUBG, I find the display resolution & image resolution to be far more valuable to have.
However, the answer is a bit more nuanced

A big factor which might decide you on one or the other is brightness when backlight strobing is enabled
You shouldn't use either model without the appropriate backlight strobing modes (DyAc1 & ULMB)
120-144Hz sample & hold is too blurry to consider it
For tearing or judder management, you can resort to AMD Enhanced-Sync or some form of frame rate limiter which is capped 2x your refresh rate.
Playing competitive games <200FPS is a disadvantage, regardless of refresh rate.

As you've noticed, both models target a similar brightness level.
However, I'm somewhat certain that Zowie comes with much beefier voltage boosting, which means you can target better sharpness at the same brightness level compared to ULMB.
At the very least, we have empirical evidence that the XL2411K @ 144Hz @ DyAc(1) Premium targets a ~10% duty cycle (because 1440px/s is ≤1px of blur)
What the actual pulse on time is, we don't have data on this because we lack one of the following:
- Oscilloscope + light probe data, detailing exact pulse on & pulse off time
- Higher speed UFOs (1920 px/s, 2400 px/s, 3840 px/s...)
You can also boost clarity even further by using the Blurbusters Utility, but I doubt you'd need it.

The S2417DG, on 120Hz and based on the 960px/s UFO that PCMonitors has done, seems to be targetting a ~12,5% duty cycle
It can further be boosted by using the "Pulse Width" setting, but I don't know the exact MPRT x Brightness curve of this model to give you more information.
To get ULMB working on a AMD GPU, you have to resort to a bit of a 'hack', but it'd work fine otherwise.

Hope this helps.

Wow thank you for your reply.
In case I sell both of them, which monitor would you recommend. I had Alienware 2521 hf with 240 hz refresh rate but I honestly hated the colors. I couldn’t make it work and since he had an IPS panel I thought that the S2417 dg with its TN panel and 165 Hz refresh rate would be a step up or a better option. I also heard that 2521 hf doesn’t have good response time.?!

I downloaded icc profile for s2417dg and it looks really nice due to its 23.8 „ screen size and pixel density .

Do you think that Alienware 2521hf was a better option Than these two?

I payed 50€ for s2417dg and 50€ for xl2411k but I don’t need both.

I am also ready to sell both I you could make a good recommendation. P.s I do like 24 inch screens, not bigger.

Thank you in advance
