BenQ XL2411Z PS4 Questions

Post by Earnings » 03 Feb 2015, 08:29

Hi wise people's :)

I've just bought a Benq XL2411Z for playing COD on PS4.

My first question is did I make a good choice? I went for this because it will also be used for general PCS tasks browsing etc and I wanted something that could give me the 1ms response rate for cod. Or have I gone too expensive here and should return for a cheaper option?

Secondly I would like to know the settings or tools to make this the best possible screen for COD on PS4.

Cheers I understand many here are PC gamers but console has always been in my life because all my friends are console :)

Many thanks in advanced :)

The problem is that the PS4 will only send 60 frames per second to your screen which will then run in 1080p60 so... not that it's a bad choice by any means, but you won't really benefit from it being capable of running at 120Hz... via Dual-Link DVI or DisplayPort (which the PS4 doesn't have) :(

Many thanks, I am going to return it and go for a lower model which has great reviews and is geared towards 60hz, this monitor won't get used to its full potential so it shall be returned!

Thanks again!

Huh?
That monitor is PERFECTLY MADE for 60 hz on consoles!
That's the entire point.

All you have to do is enter the service menu and enable "single strobe".

30 FPS looks pretty bad on it, though.
But the Z series is the right choice for 60hz /60 fps gaming on PS4.
BTW, regarding double strobe (single strobe off):

60 hz with double strobe doesn't have flicker (unlike single strobe, which flickers like a 60 hz CRT monitor), but 60 hz double strobe looks just marginally better than 60hz without blur reduction. There is a very slight increase in image quality and text readability with double strobe, compared to blur reduction off, but not by much; just the "blur" that you usually get with blur reduction off, simply becomes a double image of moving images looking like they are at "half" the framerate now.

I DO find that double strobe does help at 30 fps and 60 hz refresh rate, more than blur reduction off at 30 fps/60 hz refresh rate, and double strobe looks much better at 30 fps than single strobe (here, single strobe looks downright awful).
